AS WE APPROACH THE HALFWAY POINT OF THE YEAR, THE HIS & HERS TEAM HAS BEEN TAKING STOCK OF HOW WE’RE GETTING ON WITH OUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS.

This has meant digging our trainers out and getting back on track with some of our exercise goals (which somehow always feels a bit easier when the sun’s shining!)

If you’re in a similar position and have been trying hard to give up smoking this year, there’s still plenty of time to find a tobacco substitute, like VIP e-cigarettes, and ensure that you’ve beaten the habit in plenty of time for this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Still in need of a little extra inspiration to quit? Here are a few statistics to keep you feeling motivated…

According to the NHS Smoke Free website: “Smoking is expensive and you might be surprised at how it all adds up. On average, most people who quit save around £250 each month. That’s nearly £3,000 a year going up in smoke.”

According to further NHS research: “Stopping smoking has been found to slow facial ageing and delay the appearance of wrinkles. The skin of a non-smoker gets more nutrients, including oxygen, and stopping smoking can reverse the sallow, lined complexion smokers often have.”

Not to mention the benefits to your teeth, because: “Giving up tobacco stops teeth becoming stained, and you’ll have fresher breath. Ex-smokers are also less likely than smokers to get gum disease and prematurely lose their teeth.”

If the financial savings, plus the benefits to your overall health and appearance still aren’t enough to keep you feeling motivated, there’s always the option to put the money you used to spend on cigarettes aside every month to reward yourself with something you’ll really enjoy, like a dream holiday.

We’re always keen to hear from His & Hers readers who’ve successfully ditched habits that were making them unhappy, or built new happiness-boosting habits, so if you’ve recently given up smoking, or made some other changes in your life that you’d like to celebrate, please do tell us all about it in the comments section or via our social media channels listed below.

We are very proud to bring you this feature in association with VIP e-cigarettes. All statistics are from NHS sources and regular readers may have spotted that highlighting the benefits of going smoke-free is something we’re pretty passionate about.
