We all need to be at our best if we’re going to thrive during life. And while there are many different factors that go into this, one of the most important aspects is to ensure that we consistently get a good night’s sleep. If we’re tossing and turning or spending too long trying to reach the land of Nod, then we’ll forever be tired and fall short when it comes to our life plans and goals. But of course, wanting to be well rested and actually doing it are two different things.
There are things, however, that you can do to push yourself in the right direction. We take a look at a few ways how below.
Use Your Body
You’re not going to fall asleep just because you’ve gotten into bed. Let’s not forget what sleep is fundamentally designed for: giving our body the rest it needs to build our energy back up. If you’ve still got bags of energy in the tank, then your body won’t feel the need to fall asleep. It’s that simple! As such, it’s recommended that you stay active during the day, both mentally and physically. Make sure that you’re thoroughly worn out, and you’ll have fewer troubles when it comes to falling asleep.
Get the Right Set Up
Some people are lucky enough to fall asleep anywhere. For other people, it’s all about having the right set up. What does this mean, exactly? It means upgrading your bedding so that it’s extra comfortable, and all around ensuring that your bedroom is conducive to rest. Your bedroom should, therefore, be well-organised and tranquil. Your bedroom should be calm. If it’s too chaotic, then look at sorting things out and making them more orderly. If it’s in shape, then your mind will naturally calm down. You’ll also want to reduce the distractions that could disturb you throughout the night. For example, ensuring that noise and light pollution can’t enter your bedroom.
Relaxing Yourself
We can have days where we just don’t stop. It’s all go, go, go, and we’re completely stimulated. If we have a long day, then it can be tough — or rather, impossible — to get ourselves in the right mindset for falling asleep. But there are things that we can do. We’re beginning to figure out what helps our bodies and minds relax, and we can incorporate them into our nightly routine. You can get a bath. You can find cbd oil for sale. You can make herbal tea and read for an hour. Do all these things, and you’ll feel relaxed once you finally crawl into bed.
Avoiding Screen Time
Finally, have a think about reducing the amount of time you spend looking at a screen in the two hours before bed. Scientists have shown that smartphones, laptops, and tablets can keep our mind in a high state of alertness, which make it difficult to switch off. Put them down and do anything else — it’s always good to take a break anyway.
