Why do people play online Bingo with Paddy Power? Well, for much the same reasons that for many years, Bingo fans have flocked to a dedicated hall to play the traditional game. It’s a good chance of socialising, escaping reality and of course, hopefully winning some extra cash. Entertainment comes in the form of ‘Bingo Lingo’ – and this is something which has transferred to the online environment because, while many players want to win, many just want a chat. We’re going to take you through the A-Z of online Bingo chat and by the end of it, you’ll be able to join in next time you play Bingo for real money.

Numbers

1TG: 1 to go

2TG: 2 to go

3TG: 3 to go

These refer to how many numbers players have left on their Bingo cards. If players start counting down from three, you will know that they are close to winning, whether it’s one-line or a house – and the tension will start to build as players frantically check their cards to daub numbers off.

M30: Mini 30-ball Bingo

75B: 75-ball Bingo

80B: 80-ball Bingo

90B: 90-ball Bingo

You probably won’t see these referred to in the in-game chat, but they refer to the different types of online Bingo games available. The most common is the 90-ball variant which is the traditional game found at dedicated Bingo halls. 75-ball is a fun and fast-paced variation, while 30-ball Bingo is quicker still – and perfect for those that love things in the fast lane.

Letters

A is for AFK: Away from keyboard

B is for BRB: Be right back

Luckily, online Bingo software allows you to not only purchase tickets in advance of the games, but also automatically play the games you’ve purchased tickets for. So, if you are away from your keyboard and making a cup of tea, games carry on like normal and, who knows, you may return to find some winning funds in your account. You can also turn auto-daub on so that your winning numbers are crossed off automatically, rather than you ticking them off manually – perfect when you’ve purchased a high number of tickets.

C is for CYA: See you later

F is for FAQ: Frequently asked questions

Bingo beginners (AKA newbies) will no doubt have lots of questions and not understand the lingo to begin with. This is where the FAQ section will come in handy. Your fellow players and the chat host or moderator will point you in the direction of the FAQs in order to concentrate on the game.

G is for GL/GLA/GLE: Good luck/good luck all/good luck everyone

Bingo’s ultimately a game of chance and it’s nice to wish your fellow players good luck before new games begin. Regardless of whether you know other players or not, in real life or virtually, it’s just part of Bingo etiquette.

I is for IMO: In my opinion

J is for JMO: Just my opinion

P is for PM: Private message

In addition to the chat room, players are also permitted to private message each other. If someone asks you to check your PM, it means there’s likely to be something waiting for you in your inbox.

S is for SAC: Sorry all close

When the game is full or wagering is no longer permitted, the host or moderator may say the game is closed. This implies the game will soon begin and an on-screen countdown will remind players.

T is for TC/TTFN/TTYL: Take care/tata for now/talk to you later

W is for WB: Welcome back

W is also for WD/WTG: Well done/way to go

Another rule to Bingo etiquette is congratulating the winner. While of course you’ll be disappointed if it isn’t you, it’s always nice – and fair – to give the winner a virtual pat on the back.

Y is for YW: You’re welcome
