John Lewis & Airbnb survey on being the perfect host

FOLLOWING THE LAUNCH OF JOHN LEWIS AND AIRBNB’S ‘PERFECT HOST’ MASTERCLASS PROGRAMME, THE TWO BRANDS HAVE COME TOGETHER TO UNVEIL WHAT THE NATION EXPECTS FROM A WELL HOSTED EXPERIENCE, AND THE ESSENTIAL ITEMS EACH CITY RELIES ON TO WELCOME AND IMPRESS THEIR GUESTS.

Liverpudlians know the way to their guest’s heart is through food with 71% of hosts in Liverpool filling the fridge as soon as they hear a guest is coming to stay, more than any other city. The research also showed that Liverpool hosts are great believers in making guests feel welcome by offering a northern brew and a sweet treat, with 42% of hosts providing a kettle for guests and 36% leaving chocolates and other snacks.

Nationally, technology is considered a guest room essential, with almost 1 in 4 expecting a good Wi-Fi connection and more than 1 in 10 hoping their host will lend them a tablet or computer. Liverpudlians know the importance of staying connected and are most likely to provide universal adapters, which is particularly useful for overseas guests.

For hosts in Liverpool, detail is important, with hosts in the area most likely to bring fresh flowers into their homes to welcome guests, with almost 30% doing so ahead of their arrival.

His & Hers Tip: Why not consider investing in a few luxurious upgrades that’ll help you and your guests enjoy spending time at your home more!

A hot tub for the garden will give you or your guests the chance to unwind outdoors in style without the high cost or maintenance issues of a pool and according to the Chronicle Newspaper:

“Newcastle has been crowned the hot tub capital of the UK in a new report. According to Argos, sales of at-home hot tubs have soared across the country by an enormous 385% year-on-year. In Newcastle alone, the figures for January to April this year were 600% higher than full year sales for 2017 as Geordies sought to enjoy the unseasonally warm spells seen so far. Second on the table was Cardiff, where Argos sold the most hot tubs last year. Sales have leapt a relatively modest 267% in the city.”

Our home design team here in Liverpool are always on hand to give you tips and ideas for creating your perfect guest room.”

Airbnb host, Emma Ruscoe-Oswestry, said: “I love welcoming guests into my home and it’s great to look at this research and see that I’m not the only one. My priority is making sure guests feel comfortable from the moment they arrive, and helping travellers live like a local in my neighbourhood, even if it’s just for a night.
