There’s more to enjoy at Bold Street Coffee with an exciting evening menu and signature cocktails now in the mix, says Jean Hill.
The award-winning coffee house, Bold Street Coffee, has announced it will be expanding its offering with a brand-new evening menu. This will be available every Thursday to Sunday from 6pm. Once Bold Street was a gateway to reach destinations beyond: restaurants, pubs, theatres and concert halls. Now it has emerged as a hub, where people come to enjoy an impressive range of great independent restaurants. And usually linger awhile.
After a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign, Bold Street Coffee returned to number 89 Bold Street, with a new look. The evening menu includes a host of delicious signature dishes and cocktails. There is a cool minimalist feel to the décor with fitting illustrations decorating the walls. The bar is an elegant power-house that was a buzz of creative skill throughout the evening.
The menu, which will change weekly, is designed to share, offers freshly-made dishes and specials. The wild mushroom risotto with Dolcelatte cheese and Arborio rice had a wonderful creamy rich flavour with a blue-cheese kick. Home-made scotch egg with black-pudding and crunchy piccalilli was a layering of complementary piquant flavours. The black-pudding tastes like no other, no fat, rich and satisfying. With a mix of herbs, pan-fried salmon with blood orange accompaniment was a subtle surprise. Croquettes with smoked haddock, potato and herbs had crunch and smoky kick. Yorkshire rhubarb crumble with homemade custard ice cream is a fabulous finisher. The gorgeous ice-cream will set the mood for the cocktails to follow.
An extensive selection of cocktails, have been expertly developed using sustainable practices at Graffiti Spirits’ specialist cocktail lab. The menu will feature a range of aged drinks, long drinks, and coffee cocktails. A new creation: Bold Street Espresso Martini has been devised by Bold Street Coffee’s professional baristas and John Ennis. He is Co-Founder of the Graffiti Spirits Group and Mixology expert. It is a dazzling cocktail menu that includes Apple Long Island iced tea. I think vodka is in the mix: it tastes wonderfully refreshing, with a hint of summer, and that feel good after-taste. You might opt for Rum old fashioned, or Strawberry fizz, or a coffee based cocktail. It is your call.
Co-Owner of Bold Street Coffee, Sam Tawil, announced: “We’re looking forward to creating a casual dining space where people can come after work and relax with friends. We have a hugely supportive community of regulars who enjoy what we do…It’s important that we continue to innovate and offer something outside of our popular daytime offering.”
