LIVERPOOL-BORN INTERIOR DESIGNER, OLIVER STEER, HAS WON A PRESTIGIOUS NORTHERN DESIGN AWARD FOR HIS WORK ON THE WORLD FAMOUS ALBERT DOCK GRADE 1 LISTED BUILDING ON LIVERPOOL’S HISTORIC WATERFRONT.
The only Liverpool business to take an award on the evening, Oliver fought off tough competition to win the award for ‘Best Residential Interior Design Project Under 200k’ at the ceremony, which was held at The Royal Armories Museum in Leeds on Friday 11th November.
The Northern Design Awards, which is the largest awards ceremony of its kind outside London, brings together designers, retailers and property developers to celebrate excellence in Northern design and style.
It is the second year that Oliver has been recognised at the awards. In 2015 Oliver won the category of ‘Room of the Year’ for his work on an Orangery that was the final element in the refurbishment of a client’s home in Formby.
Oliver, who founded Oliver Steer Interior Design in 2005, is firmly established as one of the UK’s leading interior designers and has recently launched his latest venture, Timber & Tweed in Birkdale, Southport.
Oliver comments: “Working on such an iconic building which forms an integral part of one of the most recognisable waterfronts in the world was a real privilege.
“As a Liverpool born and educated designer, I feel incredibly proud to have brought home two awards for projects based in Merseyside, showcasing both design excellence in the region and its architectural prestige.”
Oliver founded his highly skilled practice in 2005, driven by a desire to achieve total perfection for clients, with attention paid to every detail.
In 2015, he joined forces with Philip Connor, another skilled Liverpudlian who has been manufacturing furniture and cabinetry to the highest standard for almost 40 years.
Together they founded Timber & Tweed, with Oliver taking on the role of CEO and Creative Director, to offer tailored British craftsmanship and an unrivalled bespoke service, providing everything from hand crafted furniture and bespoke cabinetry, to complete home transformations.
