Liverpool Theatre School future stars

Liverpool Theatre School is on the lookout for future stars, as talented young performers are being invited to audition for professional training in musical theatre, acting and contemporary dance. The centre of excellence, based at Liverpool Central Studios in the city’s Baltic District, is currently conducting online video auditions after re-formatting its face-to-face audition process due to the Coronavirus lockdown.

As part of the online auditions, performers are required to submit a video to demonstrate their talent. Applicants who can show skill, ambition and a passion for the stage could land a place on a full-time professional training course at Liverpool Theatre School, starting in September.

Maxine Ellis, Principal at Liverpool Theatre School, whose students have gone on to appear in hit shows such as Wicked, Les Miserables, The Addams Family, Blood Brothers and Back to the Future, said: “We are looking forward to uncovering some real talent during our first set of online auditions and I would urge all young performers to show us what they can do.

“Auditions would normally take place in front of a panel at Liverpool Theatre School. However, we are taking the process online for the next academic year to allow young people to continue to plan for their future despite the current challenges. We want to hear from anyone who is serious about a professional career in the performing arts industry.”

Liverpool Theatre School is the only performing arts school in the country to provide professional training courses, which are validated by the prestigious Trinity College London examination board, across all three disciplines of musical theatre, acting and contemporary dance.

Rated ‘outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted, the stage school provides support for students without financial backing through scholarships and the government’s Dance and Drama Awards (DaDA). Partner training school, Studio 76, also based at Liverpool Central studios, provides BTEC qualifications in performing arts, dance and musical theatre with fully-funded places for gifted students.
