IF YOU’VE BEEN MEANING TO INCORPORATE YOGA INTO YOUR LIFE FOR A WHILE, THERE’S NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME FOR IT.
Personally, I’m a big advocate of the benefits of yoga all year round. It’ll almost certainly make you feel happier and more relaxed. Plus you’ll feel fitter, less achy, more toned and more flexible over time. Not bad for an activity that’s also really enjoyable in the moment. (Side note: No matter how many times friends claim that completing the likes of Tough Mudder or a Marathon is also weirdly satisfying in the moment, I still don’t believe it!)
In a world that wants to ‘go hard or go home’, yoga can be the very definition of gentle exercise (depending on which class you choose). And if you tend to push yourself in every other area of your life, there’s something enormously refreshing about stepping onto the mat, slowing down and listening to your body.
Liverpool’s a good place to go hunting for yoga classes all year round, but I’m especially excited about some of the summer classes on offer…
Liverpool’s Best Summer Yoga Classes
Yin Yan Yoga on the Tempest Roof Garden:
If you get a chance to book a Yin Yan yoga class on the Tempest Roof Garden, Tithebarn Street, I’d highly recommend going for it! There’s something really special about flowing through your yoga poses while feeling a light breeze dance across your shoulders and the sun on your back. I know this is technically a feature about yoga, but there’s a great Clinical Pilates class on the roof garden on Mondays at 12.10pm. Plus yoga for all levels at 5.45pm on Mondays, and a Yoga Flow class on Wednesdays from 5.45pm, and a Saturday morning class on the roof garden from 10.30am.
Single classes cost £5 (plus £1 if you’d like to hire a Yin Yan yoga mat for your class). Alternatively, if you’d like to spend more time on the mat this summer, you can pre-pay £30 for six classes (to be used within three months), or £20 a month for unlimited classes.

Yoga Brunch Club at One Fine Day:
If catching up with a friend over brunch and yoga happen to be two of your happiness boosters, then Yoga Brunch at One Fine Day will work hard for your money and deserves some space in your diary. Feast and flow your way through Sunday 30th June (from 11am-1pm) and Sunday 28th July (from 11am-1pm). An hour’s session of yoga flow is followed by a nutritional feast in the spacious events hall. All abilities welcome: £20 per person. Bring your own mat.

Yin Yoga at Liverpool Yoga Studios:
No matter how much I harp on about the benefits of yoga, I’ll happily confess that hot summer days and exercise don’t always mix well. If you’re quietly melting, but still want to get your yoga fix, Yin Yoga, where you slow down your practice to get deeper into the poses, will help you get all the benefits of yoga without overheating! Paul Wooding teaches a 90-minute Yin class at Liverpool Yoga Studios from 6.30pm on Tuesday nights, which is perfect for stretching the body and quietening the mind. Price: £7.

I tend to write about yoga a lot on this site. But if Pilates is your thing, I’m a tad obsessed with that, too. Here’s my Love Letter to Pilates to prove it.
