HERE AT HIS & HERS, WE CAN’T HELP BUT FEEL IT’S ABOUT TIME THAT LIVERPOOL (WHICH HAS ONE OF EUROPE’S MOST FAMOUS WATERFRONTS) GOT ITS OWN SEA-FRONT SEAFOOD RESTAURANT. SO WE’RE PLEASED TO HEAR THAT MARCO PIERRE WHITE WILL BE BRINGING WHEELER’S OF ST. JAMES’S – THE OLDEST FISH BRAND IN THE WORLD – TO THE CITY.

Due to open in November 2017 at Pullman Liverpool, located on the city’s UNESCO world heritage waterfront, the 120 cover restaurant will be the second of the Wheeler’s brand to open in the UK.  The new menu at Wheeler’s will reflect its riverside location, offering the highest quality produce and service.

Marco said: “The Wheeler’s brand carries with it certain standards, and certain connotations. It’s about the highest quality of oysters, the freshest seafood and a memorable experience. This is exactly what I want to bring to Liverpool.

“I can see from the success of my Liverpool Steakhouse Bar & Grill that the people of this city have an appetite and a desire for high quality restaurants, and with the amazing location paired with a menu which I take great pride in, locals and tourists alike will find this to their taste.”

The Wheeler’s brand was established in 1856.  Marco has kept the original recipes at the heart of the menu, adding his renowned flair and originality to the seafood offerings. Oysters are a signature of the restaurant but the menu also includes Marco twists, like the lobster macaroni with black truffle and mango and coriander fish curry. While it is seafood that has grown Wheeler’s reputation, the wide selection of meat and vegetarian dishes makes the restaurant accessible to all.

Having made its debut in early 2016, Pullman Liverpool offers a timeless and functional four-star property located next to ACC Liverpool. This restaurant partnership is the first of its kind between the hotel chain and Marco’s restaurant franchise company, Black and White Hospitality, which owns the rights to five Marco Pierre White restaurant brands.

Nick Taplin, CEO of Black and White Hospitality, said: “Wheeler’s is a very special brand for us. Before we decide on a location, we must be sure it is in keeping with the ethos of this historic name. Pullman has a global reputation for being situated in vibrant parts of town and Pullman Liverpool is in keeping with this. With Wheeler’s overlooking Liverpool’s waterfront and only a short stroll from the historic Albert Dock, we feel we have found the perfect match for our second restaurant.

“It was a very big decision to open our second Wheeler’s outside of London.  I look forward to working with Marco and the team on this exciting project in such an amazing city.”

Neil Brailsford, general manager of Pullman Liverpool, added: “We are thrilled that Marco Pierre White, a world-renowned chef, has chosen to bring his first Wheeler’s restaurant outside of London to Pullman Liverpool.  Our hotels are designed to reflect the vibrant local culture and character of the neighbourhood and Wheeler’s, offering the highest-quality seafood on this historic waterfront, is the perfect choice for us.

“We look forward to working with Marco and the team.”
