SILK RD HAS OPENED A SECOND EATERY IN THE HEART OF LIVERPOOL CITY CENTRE (IN BEETHAM PLAZA) THIS MONTH.
Owned by business partners Chris Williams and Javier Mellado, the restaurant concept takes its inspiration from the cross-continental Silk Road trail, serving up a unique blend of flavours sourced from the Pacific to The Mediterranean.
Silk Rd first established its Heswall site earlier this year and has invested a five-figure sum into the opening of a second site in Liverpool’s Beetham Plaza.
Owner Javier Mellado said: “Having first opened Silk Rd in Heswall in the summer of 2017, we have already gained an impressive reputation in Merseyside and are delighted to be opening our doors in the heart of the city centre. The location in Beetham Plaza fits the Silk Rd concept perfectly; a hidden gem within the city reminiscent of Greece or Spain. Being situated nearby popular shopping destinations in Liverpool and in close proximity to the city’s Business District makes us accessible to everyone whether they are looking to join us for a business lunch or a meal with family and friends. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the site is the fantastic views of the Liver Building, which can be enjoyed from our Bedouin-style outdoor terrace.
“The launch of our second site in Liverpool brings with it a number of exciting additions to our popular menu, which has been created exclusively to capture the very best cuisine from the Silk Rd trail. Combining traditional street food with mezze and tapas, our dishes can be enjoyed as a lunch time treat or can be aptly paired with one of our signature gin combinations for a weekend celebration.”
To celebrate the launch of its second location, Silk Rd’s city centre site will offer customer favourites including Persian Lamb coated with Rosemary, Garlic, Sea Salt and Black Peppercorn and Yaour Tlou Savoury Beef Kebabs topped with a Greek Yogurt and Spiced Tomato Sauce dusted with Paprika. New menu items include Red Snapper, Red Lentil Curry and a delicious Cauliflower Steak, Uzbekistan style.

Javier added: “Guests joining us at the Liverpool location can expect a selection of our Heswall menu highlights with the addition of unique dishes and tapas as part of an ever-changing menu which captures authentic cuisine found along the Silk Road. The concept brings together exotic flavours served in a cosy and quirky setting reminiscent of colourful scenes from cities along the Silk Road route. The restaurant décor is influenced by our own travels and the menu is full of dishes that we have tried and fallen in love with along the way.
“We always wanted to launch Silk Rd in the suburbs initially but with our close connections to Liverpool, it was inevitable that our move to the city would soon follow. We have enjoyed great success in Heswall which has enabled us to expand the business after just six months. It has been incredibly exciting for the entire team and we look forward to sharing our concept with the people of the Liverpool.”
