Planning a Winter Wedding

For most of us, just trying to keep on top of the Christmas prep is more than enough to keep us busy in December. However, some of our readers will be using at least part of the Christmas break to plan their perfect winter wedding, so we couldn’t resist sharing a few simple tips for winter weddings. If you have any advice to add, please share it in the comments section at the end of the feature.

The His & Hers team is a tad smitten with the Wonderful Wirral Weddings website, where you’ll find pictures of real couples’ weddings, loads of advice, and they even do their own wedding-themed photoshoots. Frankly, even if you aren’t planning a winter wedding, we’d pay this site a visit for the prettiness alone!

Write it all down!

Whether it’s an idea for a venue, a wedding band recommendation, or just a great piece of wedding inspiration you’ve spotted, it’s worth capturing it all before you have a chance to forget anything important. We like this Paperchase scrapbook (£12.50) for taking notes, storing images & keeping your wedding ideas in one place.

Focus on the details

Naturally, when we write about winter weddings, the focus tends to be on the bride and groom. It is, after all, their big day. However, when you think about some of the most memorable weddings you’ve attended, it’s often the smaller moments – such as the things that made you laugh for hours at the unforgettable hen party, or the Best Man’s speech that made everyone cry that really stick in your memory. So even if every magazine like ours that you read tends to obsess over the dress (what can we say, we love a good wedding dress!) it’s worth remembering that what you’ll treasure the most after the last of the confetti has been thrown and you’re heading off on your honeymoon is all the memories you’ve made with the people you love the most.
