THIS DECEMBER, TURKEY WON’T BE THE MAIN BIRD ON THE MINDS OF LIVERPOOL RESIDENTS. YARD & COOP RESTAURANT, WHO SPECIALISE IN CHICKEN AND BOOZE, ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THEY ARE OPENING THEIR DOORS IN LIVERPOOL ONE.
Creating over 40 jobs, the restaurant will be split over 6,425 sq.ft. covering both the ground floor and basement levels of the space. Several local artists have already been commissioned to bring the interior to life, with a range of drawings and installations focussing around the brand’s identity and popular fox character.
Alongside these drawings, the restaurant will offer seating in uniquely themed chicken coops, which will work across two levels. A huge tree at the entrance of the restaurant will further add to the décor and give the illusion of dining within the fox’s den in the roots of the tree.
Carl Morris and Laura Morris founders and owners of Yard & Coop have always had a fondness for Liverpool and were keen to open a restaurant that offered a relaxed atmosphere and focus on quality products.
Laura said, “We’re incredibly excited to join the Liverpool ONE family and have spent lots of time developing a space that we can feel really proud of. We know Yard & Coop will offer something new for the city, so we can’t wait to open!”
Based on Hanover Street, the brand new restaurant will offer a distinctive menu, centered around the company’s famed buttermilk fried chicken, its 5-scoop milkshakes and impressive mix of cocktails.
Carl commented, “Yard & Coop is all about serving up proper fried chicken with tasty sides, classic cocktails and craft beers. We try to make each experience fun for our customers and pride ourselves on our passion for both the food and service we provide.
“When we started developing the menu for Yard & Coop, Laura was very passionate about the approach we should take. She has family in Kentucky and grew up around real southern food, so we knew buttermilk chicken would be the perfect choice. We taste tested over 250 recipes before we decided upon the perfect formula. We now believe we offer the best fried chicken in the North West and can’t wait for Liverpool to try it!”
Set to open in early December, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere at Yard & Coop allows for a casual dining experience, which can accommodate all parties and walk-ins. Their flexible approach means large groups needn’t worry about last minute meals and celebrations this winter, thanks to the restaurant’s 200 cover layout and large tables.
Commenting on the news, Miles Dunnett at Grosvenor Europe, said: “Yard & Coop are an exciting new addition to our growing dining offer which has flourished with five new operators launching at Liverpool ONE in the last 12 months. The expansive retail offer, packed with great brands, complements this to create a thoroughly enjoyable all-day offer.”
The first Yard & Coop restaurant opened in Manchester’s Northern Quarter 18 months ago and since then has gone from strength to strength, allowing for the Liverpool venue to open so quickly.
