Are you thinking of changing your bathroom this year? If so, then you’re going to want to make sure you create a timeless look that will last years and years. When you create a look you’re happy with you won’t get bored of it – plus, if you use the tips here, you’ll be able to swap a few things every so often just in case you do start to get the urge to redecorate. Read on for 6 ways to create a timeless bathroom in 2020:

1.Consider A Neutral Colour Palette

Neutral colour palettes may not be the most exciting way to decorate your bathroom, but they will stand the test of time. You can add interest in other ways, and you’ll be glad you haven’t made your life more complicated by using a bright colour palette that is difficult to decorate around. If you prefer, you could use neutral tiles and a coloured paint so that you can easily change the paint if you want to, without worrying about retiling.

2. Choose Your Materials Carefully

When you start choosing your materials, make sure you consider them carefully. You want them to be high quality and easy to clean. You could incorporate natural stone if you want an organic look, for example. You can also look at wet rooms for materials that are easy to wipe down and ideal for large households.

3. Splurge On Your Fixtures

You won’t want to spend a fortune on every aspect of your bathroom, but if you splurge on your fixtures they will be better quality and will last longer. Even better, you won’t feel the need to replace them every few years, either. You can use an interesting material like copper or gold for your fixtures, and this will add an element of luxury.

4. Provide Contrast With Texture

Rather than providing contrast with color, which you may end up getting bored of quickly, you can provide contrast with textures. Textures like wood, glossy tiles, and polished marble can all be used to give a great contrast. Using more texture also means more interest, so although you’ll be using a neutral colour scheme, you can still ensure your bathroom looks interesting.

5. Prioritise Your Counter Space

Counter space is important in any bathroom. If you don’t have enough of it you’re going to get fed up pretty quickly. Make sure you look at decent vanities and cabinets. Floating cabinets can be great, as they can help a small bathroom to appear bigger as they’re not taking up floor space (even though the floor space won’t be usable, it’s a great trick for the eye).

6. Avoid Themes And Stick To Accents Instead

Choosing a theme for your bathroom might seem like a good idea, for instance ‘Nautical’, however, accents are better as you can easily switch out items to give the bathroom a new ‘theme’. If you get bored of a theme you have to change the whole thing, but with just a few carefully chosen accents, it won’t be too difficult to change.
