MODERN ICON OF BRITISH STYLE ALEXA CHUNG HAS COLLABORATED WITH MARKS & SPENCER TO CREATE A READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTION WHICH WILL LAUNCH IN APRIL.
Named Archive by Alexa, the unique approach to collaboration involved using the rich and extensive Marks & Spencer company archive, in which Alexa and the M&S design team embarked on a journey of rediscovery.
The 31 piece womenswear collection has brought pieces back to life for 2016, through the introduction of modern fabrications and an updated colour palette.
Alexa will also take creative ownership of the supporting campaign, ensuring her unique approach to style is also reflected in the mood of the imagery.
This project is the first of the ‘M&S &’ series in a sequence of unique, exclusive collections in collaboration with some of today’s most exciting designers, brands & fashion icons.
Alexa commented:“I have always had an affection for Marks & Spencer. I am thrilled to be part of this special and unique project. There was something very touching about looking back through the British fashion and social history for which M&S is synonymous”.
Steve Rowe, Executive Director of General Merchandise at Marks & Spencer commented: “It was a hugely insightful experience allowing Alexa full access to our Company Archive. Marks & Spencer’s history is vast and quality design has always been paramount; therefore using our expertise and classic designs and Alexa’s unique eye and approach to style, our collaboration was born. A new womenswear collection, curated by Alexa, with heritage firmly at its heart”.
The collection will debut in April 2016 and will be available in selected stores and online at www.marksandspencer.com.
