At His & Hers, Marco’s Steakhouse is somewhere we love to visit. Steakhouse Bar & Grill, Liverpool can be found (on the ground floor) of the contemporary boutique Hotel Indigo. This is a part of Liverpool with a rich industrial heritage, once home to the city’s cotton trade and Liverpool’s famous music scene. It is a perfect place to stay to access the tourist trail.

It is a place where hotel guests and the public are warmly welcomed and can relax; just the place to enjoy fine food in a tranquil setting. Here is a quiet haven, removed from the bustle of the day: with both tables and rather fine high-backed leather booths. All restrained elegance amongst the happy chatter. There is a new autumn menu, alongside the main menu and the steak cuts come highly recommended by the staff (as do many other dishes).

All the staff, on this visit Eva and Ricky, want to provide the best experience possible. And in this endeavour they succeed. We chatted: we discussed the menu and took recommendations. My companion chose goats cheese and beetroot salad, with a yummy  dressing, all of which she loved: good balance of flavours. I chose prawn cocktail because it is a classic and the house Marie Rose sauce is perfect with the succulent, flavoursome prawns. My main course was chicken with spinach, delicious large potatoes and mushrooms with a real zing, all in rich juices. The chicken was perfectly prepared and tasted of an old fashioned regard for provenance, tender to the touch and taste.

There should not have been room for dessert, but Crème Brulée was on the menu and, for me and my companion, it was impossible to resist. It came; crispy, sweet, skating surface, with a soft just the right amount runny, melt in your mouth, vanilla custard beneath.

We made our way back through Liverpool’s leafy walk-ways, with a gloriously wobbly autumn moon, looming large. We had silly smiles on our faces, celebrating a lovely evening. Comes highly recommended.
