Aveda Hellessy Backstage Fall Winter 2017 Collections New York Fashion Week

It combines principles of modern science with Ayurveda, an ancient healing art of India. Aveda has a corporate partnership with Water Aid, and an involvement with exciting projects, one being in India.

I am mature, I am looking to minimise the impact of dry brittle hair, that doesn’t glow or shine. There didn’t seem to be a definite solution, so this was an opportunity to find out.

About the Aveda Blow-Dry Bar:

We were part of the opening day flurry, and the Blow Bar looked like an instant hit. The concept is holistic: literally knowledge of the whole. We were warmly greeted and offered mint tea which was delicious and soothing. The consultation process is quite thorough. I was asked about my hair type: which is dry, fine and fly-away. I was asked what I wanted to achieve, which I thought might involve making choices. In fact I walked out with exactly what I asked for.

Aveda has a ridiculously large range of hair products, and they combine in such a way that I could have smooth and shiny hair, with great volume. There is Dry Remedy shampoo: oil and conditioner. There is Smooth Infusion thickening tonic and Phomollient styling foam that gives weightless volume.  The staff really know their products and love the brand. The talk is of: pure chamomile, pure plant black malva, and rosemary mint. I get to look amazing and save the planet. I loved the scalp massage, and the back massage was utterly relaxing.

The stylist explained how to care for my hair, and that using a primer is an essential part of that process. It’s a gentle experience. I loved the fact that whilst the hair washing is totally private, I could watch the world walk by in Debenhams whilst my hair was blown dry. Each process was explained, and because there is an in-depth understanding, the blow dry will look great and last longer.

I love the fact that you can just walk into Debenhams knowing you have an event or date in an hour or two, and enjoy a quick fix or a wash and style with the wow factor. Thanks to Jane my stylist. I’ve learnt something new about my hair care, and I have enjoyed every moment.

Meanwhile, my fellow His & Hers road-tester was having her tresses tended to by Jenna and was equally impressed with the end result.
