OUR BEAUTY BUY OF THE WEEK IS CLINIQUE’S TAKE THE DAY OFF CLEANSING BALM.

We’ll confess, we like to be at the front of the queue with beauty news and recommendations. So you’ll find a lot of shiny new product launches on this page. However, every once in a while we make an exception and feature a fantastic product that isn’t new, but which really does deliver. Clinique’s Take the Day off Cleansing Balm is one such product.

With a price point of just £23 and no fragrance, we were expecting a fairly utilitarian cleansing experience. However, as you warm the balm on your hands, it melts like a dream. When applied to the face, this cleanser has the perfect consistency to be gently massaged into the skin. It feels very gentle, yet (pretty much literally) melts away make-up effortlessly.

We’ve been removing the cleanser with a damp muslin cloth and have just spotted that Clinique make their own version for use with this cleanser. Yes, there are lots of great cleansers out there. But this one stands out for its lovely consistency, and for being gentle and effective in equal measure.

Also, if you’re craving a really relaxing skincare regime before bed, taking a little time to massage this cleanser into your skin will set you up perfectly for bed. Plus you’ll have that lovely slightly smug feeling of someone who’s heading to bed with perfectly cleansed and moisturised skin.
