The newest addition to Chester’s thriving art scene opens its doors this weekend. The Green Rooms will be a haven for those wanting to get crafty and spend time using their hands to create, ‘make-and-take’ and develop new skills, all with the goal of relaxation and perhaps even improving mental health.

The Green Rooms will offer a varied mix of adult craft and wellbeing workshops including art therapy, crochet, machine sewing, reiki and life coaching.

Recent reports have found that the arts can help keep us well, aid recovery from illness and also help meet challenges in health and social care associated with ageing, loneliness, long-term conditions and mental health issues. There will also be a big emphasis on plant therapy and The Green Rooms will stock the highest quality houseplants for purchase alongside carefully curated homewares, including Arbol House interiors. It is no secret that houseplants have all kinds of benefits to offer their human hosts including relieving stress and even combatting anxiety and staving off illness.

After launching her two other businesses, ‘Girl Gang HQ’ and ‘Stitch Please’ – The Green Rooms Owner & Founder Hannah Valleé said: “I am so excited to open the doors to The Green Rooms after months of designing, decorating and planning. After spending years hosting crochet classes, which started as a hobby of mine, it became clear that there was a demand for arts and craft activities and so little of them for people past a certain age, yet they’re the ones in great need of the down-time.

“ We will be offering crochet classes, craft workshops, seasonal hobbycraft and art lessons along with wellbeing workshops, gardening tutorials and much more as we become established. I want people to visit and spend time reconnecting; not only with themselves and others but really get back to ‘grass roots’ handicrafts, unwind and do something uplifting. Quality time spent on yourself as an adult is a rarity in today’s busy world and you can’t put a price on its value.”
The Green Room will also be a social café space to keep the would-be artists satiated as they work.

Launch day opening hours – Sunday 1st Sept 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
