ON FRIDAY (11TH NOVEMBER), HUNDREDS OF LEADING DESIGNERS ASSEMBLED AT THE STRIKING ROYAL ARMOURIES AND NEW DOCK HALL IN LEEDS TO FIND OUT WHICH INDIVIDUALS AND COMPANIES WOULD BE WALKING AWAY WITH ONE OF THE NORTH’S MOST PRESTIGIOUS DESIGN AWARDS.
During the 14th Northern Design Awards ceremony, the evening’s hosts, world-renowned designer Wayne Hemingway and Event Director, Shelley Bond, both gave rousing speeches about the role design can play in improving our lives, highlighting the great work that’s being done within the design sector in the North.
Shelley Bond said: “We were proud to welcome so many talented individuals and fantastic companies to Leeds for our 14th annual awards. The Royal Armouries Museum provided a very fitting setting for the awards, which were held on Armistice Day, and guests observed a minute’s silence before the awards presentation. We also provided a poppy for every guest.”
She added: “With the support of our enormously well respected panel of judges, our host, Wayne Hemingway, and long standing sponsors such as Trombé, not to mention the hugely talented people who entered the awards, this event keeps going from strength to strength and having hosted awards in Manchester, Buxton, Chester and Liverpool in the past we’re already considering where to hold our 15th awards ceremony next year.”
This year’s judging panel featured Linda Barker, Wayne Hemingway, Nick Munro, Jan Constantine, HRH Princess Katarina and internationally renowned designer, George Bond, plus the influential Alison Vance and Noel Farrer and details of the line-up for next year’s awards will be released on the Northern Design Awards website over the coming months.
