HIS & HERS MAGAZINE SHARES A LITTLE EVERYDAY WISDOM WHICH HAS SERVED US WELL WHEN BUYING HEELS AND MATTRESSES OVER THE YEARS…
After several house moves and more years than we care to mention spent in high heels, here’s His & Hers’ life advice in a nutshell: Life is too short for cheap mattresses and cheap heels!
We know (all too well) that sometimes budgets are tight and costs have to be cut somewhere. However, if you find your mouse lingering over the cheapest shoes or mattress available, our advice is to think for just a little longer about whether there’s somewhere else you could cut back.
Because we’ve learnt from bitter experience that when you skimp too much on heels or on your mattress, the sense of satisfaction in bagging yourself a bargain tends to be short lived, but you’ll have time to reflect on how your shoes dig into your feet, or springs dig into your torso with every single step you take and every time you roll over.
Having lived with a less-than-comfortable mattress and far too many one-wear wonders in the shoe department in the past, we can vouch for the fact that it’s worth investing in comfort every time.
We like this George 2000 Cotton Sprung Mattress from Furnish Your Home. It has 2,000 pocketed springs to spread your weight so evenly that you’ll drift off faster (a design feature which you’ll also appreciate if your partner’s tossing and turning throughout the night!) And as it’s made with cotton it’ll keep you warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
On the heels front, we’re sure you already have a wish-list, so all we’ll say on this topic is that if a pair of shoes starts digging into your foot, rubbing or cutting off the circulation to your toes when you try them on, don’t assume that things will necessarily get better with time.
Just like with first dates, what you’re seeing on that first encounter is probably as good as it gets, and what seems like a minor niggle now is likely to be significantly more annoying when you’re several hours into your night out.
If you’ve recently treated yourself to the mattress or heels of your dreams and haven’t looked back, please tell us all about it in the comments section. We’d love to hear from you!
We’re very proud to bring you this feature in association with Furnish Your Home, a really friendly UK company with a fantastic relationship with bloggers. The featured mattress is theirs, but the words are all ours.
