WORLD-CLASS SPORT, MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT WILL BE COMBINED IN SPECTACULAR FASHION WHEN THE EQUESTRIAN LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW RETURNS TO THE CITY’S ECHO ARENA LATER THIS YEAR.
The 2017 event, which begins on December 31 and will be headlined in true New Year’s Eve party fashion by operatic band and former Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro, was launched on Monday along Liverpool’s waterfront.
Providing a taste of things to come was top Irish showjumper Billy Twomey – the inaugural Liverpool Grand Prix winner – who treated spectators to his riding skills by jumping the beautifully-designed Liver Building fence against a stunning backdrop.
There was also a Shetland Pony Grand National showcase race to whet the appetite for their Liverpool International appearance on all three days from December 31-January 2, when other attractions will include performances from Abba tribute band Revival and internationally-renowned carriage driver George Bowman.
The soaraway success of Liverpool International 2016 saw capacity crowds pack the Echo Arena, while riders from all parts of the world hailed its inception to the sporting calendar as an event that is here to stay.
Once again, Liverpool will be a CSI **** show, with a total prize fund of £200,000 and all-important points on offer in terms of the Longines world rankings.
New Year’s Eve, meanwhile, sees Collabro taking centre-stage, a group whose debut album Stars went straight to the top of the UK album charts in October, 2014, and who command a worldwide fan-base after bursting to prominence by enthralling millions – not to mention Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams – on national television.
Liverpool’s box office New Year production will also include indoor fireworks and an unforgettable party atmosphere as 2017 is set to be seen in amid great scenes of celebration.
Visitors to the Liverpool International can treat themselves to a variety of food and drink experiences, including a bistro-style restaurant, a luxurious champagne bar situated alongside the collecting ring and a new Mersey View Restaurant, offering family dining overlooking the River Mersey.
Liverpool show president Nina Barbour said: “We are hugely-excited to be back in the wonderful city of Liverpool ahead of what I know will be another not-to-be missed event.
“We were all left spellbound by the success of our inaugural 2016 show, which attracted fantastic support from the people of Liverpool and beyond, and together with competitors and performers alike, we are greatly looking forward to another three days at the superb Echo Arena that are sure to live long in the memory.”

Adult prices start at £19.50, with children aged under 14 beginning at £10. Additionally, this year, new platinum band tickets offering front-row seats will also be available, while adult group bookings of 15 people or more in silver and bronze-seated areas carry a 20 per cent discount, with popular family tickets for two adults and two children again on offer.
