While indulging in a spot of window shopping, His & Hers couldn’t help but notice the recent addition to the Liverpool ONE landscape – the giant slide which is offering shoppers of all ages a different way to get around!
The slide, which is free to ride, opened to the public on 29th July, offering visitors a fun-filled alternative to steps and escalators!
The slide was initially located outside the All Saints store in Upper South John Street and will then be moved to give an AstroTurf landing next to the LEGO store in Lower South John Street.
The new addition will be in place until 8th September, with children – and grown-ups welcome to give it a try. Height and weight restrictions apply.*
Donna Howitt, Marketing Director at Liverpool ONE, said: “With the school summer holidays well underway, we expect to be welcoming lots of families to Liverpool ONE, whether it’s for last-minute holiday essentials or simply a trip out to Chavasse Park or to visit the cinema.
“We are really excited to give them a little something extra to add to the fun of summer with our giant slide. It’s the first time we’ve installed something like this so we’re expecting it to be very popular with both youngsters and their parents!”
The five metre-high slide, which is 10.1 metres long, follows the launch of Liverpool ONE’s Summer of Champions, a jam-packed schedule of free events on Chavasse Park, including netball, athletics, rugby, tennis, boccia and football, along with a special running track, winner podiums and a long jump area. This provides families with the opportunity to play together outside and enjoy a summer of fun – and even try out a new activity.
Adding to the sporting mix is a Hexagol® pod, which allows youngsters to hone their footballing skills, practise their shooting and perfect their passing.
As part of the Summer of Champions, Liverpool ONE is also offering local clubs the chance to each win £1,000 towards their costs in a bid to support local grassroots sports.
Donna added: “This is an incredibly exciting summer at Liverpool ONE – we’re keen to encourage visitors to channel their ‘inner champion’ with us and get involved as much as possible!
“We’re keen to support the next generation of sporting stars, so we’re thrilled to be able to offer a significant funds to a variety of sporting clubs from across the region, hopefully making a real difference to their futures and, most importantly, their talented members.”
