Mother’s Day is close to my heart. I can be a shrinking violet, (more or less) probably, any other day of the year, but not on Mother’s Day. On this special day, it is time to shine! I get excited. I drop hints. Not as extreme as take me to Florence, but you get the drift. Annual celebrations are mega important and never more so than on Sunday 19th March this year.

The Royal Albert Dock
The Royal Albert Dock is an iconic part of Liverpool’s waterfront. Shopping, sight-seeing and dining happen against a backdrop of lapping water and stunning sights.
I love the Tate Liverpool. If you have not seen the JMW Turner with Lamin Fofana exhibition yet, there is still time. Its title ‘Dark Waters’ is evocative. Lamin Fofana provided the eerie mood music to artfully accompany the paintings. Turner was all about light, but these maritime paintings and sketches illustrate the dark power of the sea powerfully and with exquisite beauty. The Tate Collection includes: ‘What does democracy mean to you?’. Well worth a look.
There are some great restaurants on The Dock. If you enjoy tapas, Lunyalita is a gem. It is a family restaurant with a deservedly great reputation.
Gusto is a legendary Italian restaurant, in an iconic building at the entrance to the Royal Albert Dock. The views are breath-taking. The food is classic Italian, beautifully prepared and presented. For a special occasion, this is a sound choice.
Liverpool ONE has thrived during testing times for retail. There must be a good reason for that. The Café Terrace offers a tranquil space to rest and lunch or dine after retail therapy has done its work.
Metquarter boasts some world class stores where one could find that stunning item for that ever so special person. When you are all shopped out, there is Urban Calm to soothe and pamper. Then totally refreshed you could make your way to the Everyman Cinema.
The GPO Food Hall at the Metquarter has some lunch deals on offer. Check out Ferguson’s Bakery. The menu is well thought through; both diverse and the delicious bread, is often the base from which to create some of the memorable dishes.
My family will be at the Olive Tree, New Brighton. Check out the pre-theatre food. Their Sunday roasts are legendary.
Much to see and do. Whatever you do, have a fabulous day.
