FOLLOWING ON FROM THE POPULARITY AND DEMAND SINCE LAUNCHING, MCARTHURGLEN DESIGNER OUTLET CHESHIRE OAKS WILL BE HOSTING A SERIES OF AUTISM FRIENDLY EVENINGS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NORTH WEST CHARITY, AUTISM TOGETHER THROUGHOUT 2017.
The evenings will be part of the centres continued commitment to raising awareness of the disability and the challenges it presents.
The next autism friendly evening will take place on Tuesday 7th February 2017 from 5pm – 8pm. During the event, the centre’s lights will be dimmed, the volume of background music will be turned down low and tannoy announcements will be kept to a minimum. There will also be quiet spaces where people with autism can relax and unwind, thus creating a comfortable shopping environment with specially trained staff on hand to help guests and their families.
Speaking of the event, Centre Manager Kenny Murray, commented; “Supporting our local communities and charities has always been of the utmost importance to McArthurGlen and we’re delighted to be able to help raise awareness of such an important cause.”
The centre’s autism friendly evenings are part of ‘Connect to Autism’, a Department of Health-backed scheme. McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Cheshire Oaks has trained staff in both autism awareness and how to offer a supportive work environment to staff members with autism.
