The Sunday Times Style has recently announced that having ‘Scouse Mates’ is an on-the-up trend, as the city is busier than ever, and with Eurovision in the diary, finding somewhere fabulous to stay in the city is a wise move. I am going to be absolutely transparent – I am not really someone who goes on wild weekends anymore. However, it’s always great to stay in the city centre if you already live here, especially if there is a special event going on. And obviously there are some wonderful places to rest your head, and more, if you are visiting from somewhere else in the country, or from around the globe.
iStay Liverpool may have just provided me with the perfect place to stay. This already established and award-winning apart-hotel group has a range of locations around the city centre which are already popular, including some stylish developments which have proved to be a huge hit. However, the new iStay Liverpool location at 3 Fenwick Street is very much my style.

Consisting of ten luxurious duplex and triplex penthouses which give me Armani Casa vibes when it comes to their interiors, these are quietly stylish accommodations for people in search of a cocktail, a beautiful meal, or cultural day out. It’s also just a short walk away from Liverpool ONE and the Metquarter (if you aren’t near the most exclusive stores, then it’s not a location for me!), as well as the nearby M&S Bank Arena. The exclusive Gaucho restaurant is already wowing the stylish crowds on the ground floor of the building, so it’s not rocket science for me that you can have a chic dining experience there, and go back upstairs to your apartment and relax in the most lavish surroundings, with great views over the historic skyline.
This new development is perfect for smaller groups and families, and Fenwick Street is just far enough away from more main street areas to have a quieter vibe. The best thing about an apart-hotel is its home-away-from-home feeling. I love a hotel, but I also enjoy not worrying about being late for breakfast, or what to wear in the foyer. I also like being able to make a cup of tea, and get some treats from M&S Food in, and relax and not live by a timetable.
You can probably guess that I am not exactly Marianne Faithful when it comes to my nightlife habits – but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a relaxing city break. I still appreciate everything the city has to offer, and keep up with all of the openings and launches. So I might feel a bit too mature to order a Dead Man’s Chest in the new Tiki Hideaway Bar in Seel Street (oh to be 30 years younger!) but I’d quite like a hair makeover in the newly refurbished Collinge & Co. salon in Castle Street, and a cocktail on the roof of Zenn, in nearby Victoria Street.

I caught up with Kier Smith, Business Development Manager of iStay Liverpool, who told me: “All of our city centre locations are designed with luxury in mind, and we also enjoy respecting original features within our properties, as well as historical architecture, which is a real trademark in our city’s cultural history.
“The building at 3 Fenwick Street dates back to 1896 and has been Grade II listed for more than five decades. Once you are inside, though, we have made sure every apartment is beautifully decorated to suit guests who really appreciate the finer details.
“The smaller apartments within 3 Temple Street feature two bedrooms and sleep up to 6 people, whilst our triplex apartments can accommodate up to 12 people. Our fantastic show apartment is huge, and offers luxurious open plan living, with roomy bathrooms and bedrooms. The views are magnificent, too.
“We want to make sure that all of our visitors are offered the same welcome, but we have to say we are really excited about Eurovision and guests booking in from all over Europe and beyond. We make sure we offer the same value price-wise as we would at any other time, too.”
As a business iStay have just celebrated another big win when Ann Chambers, Managing Director, alongside the lovely Kier, picked up the Female Led Business of the Year 2023 at the Downtown in Business Women in Business Awards. 2023 is certainly shaping up to be a fantastic year for all of the team.
As for me, I definitely have my eye on a midweek stay once Eurovision is over, and while I do like to think of having a J-Lo moment wafting around a duplex, I think a stay in one of the 2 bedroom apartments will just be the early summer ticket for me.
Champagne décor on a doesn’t-need-be-champagne budget? That’s douze points for iStay Liverpool at 3 Fenwick Street.
Oh, and don’t forget your teabags…
iStay Liverpool’s latest apart-hotel launch is based at 3 Fenwick Street, L2 0NZ.
