REGULAR READERS WILL HAVE NOTICED THAT THE HIS & HERS TEAM LOVES A GOOD FRAGRANCE LAUNCH.
Although our inbox tends to overflow with press releases about new perfumes, there are still a few brands that we know won’t disappoint. They’re the ones that don’t release new fragrances all the time, but when they do, you can feel pretty confident that they’ll be worth writing about. Cartier is, of course, one of those brands.
So when we heard from the senior press officer spreading the word about their new launch (who just so happens to have introduced us to several of our all-time fragrances over the years) His & Hers sat up and paid attention.
Cartier CARAT is launching in mid-September and is the biggest female fragrance launch from the brand since La Panthere in 2014.
The inspiration for this fragrance comes from Cartier’s iconic jewellery. The new bottle is beautifully designed to emulate the light and radiance generated by diamonds and how they can reflect and shine on the skin.
Cartier’s in house perfumer, Mathilde Laurent focused on the way a diamond refracts light into a myriad of colours, like a rainbow. When light passes through a diamond, it acts as a prism.
As Mathilde worked on the fragrance, she became obsessed with diamonds and their amazing ability to capture and play with light. She selected flowers of different colors to recreate the scent of an imaginary one, a perfect one. The perfect, pure, white flower.
Just as white light is the combination of all the colours of the rainbow, Cartier CARAT (Eau de Parfum,) is the scent of seven colourful flowers that come together and make one, pure, white scent.
Violet for purple, Iris for indigo, Hyacinth for blue, Ylang-Ylang for green, Daffodil for yellow, Honeysuckle for orange, and Tulip for red – names ‘Arc-en-fleurs’ or, the flowering rainbow.
Cartier Carat EDP 30ml: RRP £52.00
