This is such a beautiful hotel in a great location for short city breaks, leisurely tourism and corporate events. Liverpool is one of the top locations for visitors. So much to see: museums, Tate Liverpool, Liverpool ONE shopping destination, the Metquarter, two beautiful cathedrals and the Royal Albert Dock.

Bottomless brunch is a new departure for Novotel and it sounded too sumptuous to miss. It is slightly different in a really good way. We were warmly welcomed and led to the drinks bar. Plenty of choice with Prosecco, Cointreau, Grenadine, fine wines and non alcoholic options. The deal is that you simply return to the bar to top up your drinks.

The buffet is a truly impressive spread. There are also hot food options, located (front of) the open kitchen. Chalk boards, a fun, rustic touch, indicate menu options, including veggie dishes.

There is a wealth of choice.  A person can work their way through much that is savoury, hot dishes a plenty and indulgent sweet fayre. No rush at all. You can book for Saturdays 1pm until 4pm. The cost is £55. This proves good value for money; delicious food with limitless top-up drinks.

First stop is the bakery section. Take a deep breath: pancakes, muffins, waffles, bagels, scones and croissants. This would be my grandson’s idea of heaven: all this and croissants too. Accompaniments include: fresh berries, cream, fruits, cheese and cold meats.

On to the mains, perhaps with a pause for a little chatter and to top up drinks. Choose from: avocado toast, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, Cumberland sausage, quiche and shakshuka and sides of grilled, garlic mushrooms and hot wraps.

You really would not want to miss dessert. Again a person is spoiled for choice: carrot cake, chocolate brownies, coffee cake and lemon and ginger cheesecake.

We had a great time over bottomless brunch. We enjoyed a positive feast in such good company. I just want to do it all over again, sometime very soon.
