We at His & Hers love pancakes. It takes me back to my childhood when my mother tossed and flipped pancakes into the air, with total abandon. She specialised in a honey, apple and lemon filling, that tasted so, so good.
Slim’s on Bold Street
There is much good food to be had at this New York style diner. It boasts a menu filled with delights. There is a vegan combo: BBQ corn ribs, Vegan chicken, cheesy bites, cauliflower wings and onion rings. Trust me, the BBQ corn ribs are something really special. There is a great range of burgers. The cheeseburger is a double beef burger in a seeded brioche bun, with house pickles and house burger sauce. The baby back pork ribs come with a house BBQ sauce.
There is a limited window of opportunity to enjoy those pancakes. You can delve into a special stack of Slim’s Rainbow Pancakes all day on Tuesday 24th February. You can try deliciously fluffy pancakes topped with fresh berries, chocolate treats, whipped cream and caramel sauce for £7.95. Only to be had on Pancake Tuesday.
Bold Street Coffee
Renowned for its great coffee and fantastic food, Bold Street Coffee has created a delicious Pancake Day special to tempt its guests. For £6.75, enjoy indulgent butterscotch pancakes with peanut brittle and banana. Their evening menu is well worth exploring. The coffee braised beef feather-blade is wonderfully tender. The butternut squash risotto is succulent and lovingly nurtured.
Maluco Pizzeria
This popular pizzeria is also home to Castle Street Coffee; the sister venue to the famous Bold Street Coffee. Castle Street Coffee has a permanent morning residency at Maluco Pizzeria and is offering pancakes from 9am-2pm.
The possibilities are enticing. You can sample freshly made pancakes topped with rhubarb compote, custard and whipped cream. Or, difficult choice, you can opt for pancakes topped with strawberries, chocolate and whipped cream. Both are great value at £6.25.
Maluco Pizzeria does great food. Their pizzas are made from scratch in wood fired ovens. One or two that pack great flavour are also vegan. I love their buttermilk Kornflake fried chicken. It delivers succulent, tender meat, wrapped up in contrasting crunchiness.
Something for everyone, especially children and adults who want to access their inner child on Pancake Tuesday.
