If you’re starting to research potential summer holiday destinations, the His & Hers team has got you covered with our simple tips to for planning the perfect break…

Set a (realistic) budget

We’ve all found ourselves googling dream homes or holidays at one time or another. And while this can be fun at the time, looking at the homes or holidays of the ultra-wealthy might not get you any closer to booking a holiday that ticks all the boxes for you. So before you find yourself endlessly scrolling exotic destinations, why not start by setting a budget, accounting for flights, accommodation and likely costs (such as taxis, shopping trips and meals out) that you’ll probably want some budget for while you’re away.

Draw up a dream list

Canada

Sometimes we can go through life on autopilot, going to the same places every week and perhaps even visiting the same holiday destination every year. While there’s a lot to be said for knowing what you like, getting stuck in a rut might be stopping you from going to some of the places you’ve always wanted to visit. For example, if you’ve always dreamed of traveling to Canada, why not start taking some practical steps, such as booking flights to Toronto to bring you one step closer to making your dream a reality.

Do your research

summer essentials

Whether it’s asking your friends about their favourite holiday destinations, or spending some time looking at reviews online, it can be very useful to find out about other people’s experiences before making your booking. Also, taking a little extra time to think about the details of your holidays – from picking the best flight times to arranging the most convenient way to travel to your hotel, or even making reservations at that must-visit restaurant – can make all the difference to your trip.

 Make it personal to you

hiking

If there are activities that you keep meaning to make time for, but never get round to, from hiking to painting, going to yoga classes or even making a start on writing a novel, why not look for a holiday that could help you get started with a new hobby. There are plenty of holidays that incorporate creative workshops, yoga or hiking to name but a few activities and as well as getting to explore some new pastimes, themed holidays could also provide an excellent opportunity to meet likeminded people who’ll be likely to encourage you along the way.

Prioritise some ‘you time’

Perhaps you’ve been dreaming of getting away from it all for months, but every time you get close to booking a holiday, an urgent work deadline crops up and you find yourself postponing your plans for a break. If your work life tends to come first, try taking a small step towards prioritising some ‘you time’ – even if it’s just booking a long weekend. This will give you a chance to recharge your batteries and to benefit from some hard earned rest and relaxation.
