FALL IS OFFICIALLY IN FULL SWING, AND OUR SUMMER WARDROBES (AND VIBRANT SUMMER COLOURS) HAVE BEEN RELEGATED TO THE BACK OF OUR CLOSEST FOR ANOTHER SIX MONTHS.
As the leaves fall from the trees, the autumnal colour palette of the world around us is sure to inspire our outfit choices. But choosing the right colours for fall 2017 takes so much more than just wearing rust, ochre, and other stereotypical shades of fall. So what colours should you be wearing this October? We take a look at some of the hottest colour trends to hop straight off the runway and inspire our new season dressing:
Red Alert
If one colour could sum up the runway for this fall, it would be red. If you buy just one thing this October then make it a piece in vibrant red that you can integrate beautifully into your existing wardrobe. If you’re naturally colour shy then try a red bag, scarf or pair of shoes. If you have a more confidence then why not break out a red coat or dress?
Plus size party dresses in vibrant cherry red are perfect if you’re looking to attract attention for all the right reasons. Red is an eye-catching colour that is flattering for all skin tones, and with designers such as Fendi, Gucci and Max Mara championing the shade for Fall 2017, if you choose a red dress then you’ll be in good company.
Feeling Blue
At the opposite side of the colour wheel, those designers who weren’t promoting vibrant red as this October’s hottest shade were blending their blue hues instead. Dior were so committed to blue, in fact, that they entitled their newest collection the blue collection!
The good news about this season’s blue trend is that you can wear almost any shade of blue you like! Rich cobalt and midnight blues are perfect for October because they have a fantastic Halloween-y feel, whilst icy and pastel blues are ideal for evening wear and brightening up cold winter days. Finally, don’t underestimate the importance of navy blue: much softer and more flattering than black, use navy blue as the base colour for all of your October outfits.
Perfect Pink
Finally, if you want to look soft and feminine then pale ballerina pink is the perfect shade for you. Pink was a popular shade for last fall, and it has re-emerged as a popular colour for this winter too. Pink is a great colour for plus size fashion, because it oozes femininity, so it’s good news that it’s so fashion-forward this season too.
The fashion world is completely obsessed with pink, no matter what shade you choose. Whether you’re a girly-girl or you’re simply looking for something bright and happy, pink is the perfect place to go. We love vibrant pink overcoats and macs, which look fantastic over denim and toned down with chunky and masculine brogues or boots.
