AT HIS & HERS, WE ARE HUGE FANS OF SUITES SPA. IT HAS BEEN A REFUGE AND A SANCTUARY. THERE IS A POINT IN THE WORKING WEEK WHEN THAT IT EXACTLY WHAT YOU YEARN FOR. PAMPERING IS NOT JUST A FRIVOLOUS ADD-ON. IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECHARGE, CELEBRATE, HAVE FUN WITH FRIENDS, AND CONSIDER EVERYTHING IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR.

The package chosen for us was Festive Escape Weekend. There are Xmas Party Nights packages, a Murder Mystery evening or Festive Family Night. The facilities boast a relaxation room, a swimming pool, refreshments on tap, and stone and mud treatments. For me, the clincher is that we can enjoy a bistro lunch or afternoon tea, wearing a robe and flip-flops. Totally liberating. The afternoon tea came with bite sized sandwiches and luscious cakes, with strawberries and cream. There are Champagne lunches, and Prosecco is available in the Relaxation room, and in the bistro.
On a deeper level, it is a chance to consider your lifestyle, diet, and general well-being. The Spa is a warm and welcoming environment. It radiates subtle fragrances, peace and calm. We were booked in for Decléor Aroma massage and Glow facial. My therapist, Ellen, began with a deep muscle massage. Tensions melted away. A storm was brewing outside, but I was cocooned in a world of well-being. Ellen recommended regular sessions of massage to deal with the everyday stresses and strains. We moved on to the facial. It was a surprise that I had been harbouring residual tension. I had expected to hear that my skin was dry and not hydrated. Turns out it is fine, but there is a cream to suit all skin types. The component parts of the facial: toning, cleansing, exfoliating and moisturising are gentle and soothing. I loved the sheen and the glow of: Orexcellence day cream, and was advised to try Oxrexcellence night balm, and Phytepeel exfoliator.
It is part ritual, part indulgence, and yet I suspect it is an essential element of feeling good about ourselves. We enjoyed catch up and whispered exchanges (so as not to disturb those napping) whilst we lounged. We learnt about beauty routines that are more than skin deep. Check through the packages on offer, which are day or overnight pamper sessions. The Christmas food menus offer festive lunches, fine dining, and buffet options. There is something for everyone.
