At His & Hers we love flower shows, gardening (that would be me), all manner of flowers, especially in the great outdoors and we love cookery and demonstrations in general. All this and dazzling show gardens can be had at Southport Flower Show. A taste of paradise really.

Southport Flower Show, sponsored by the Seventy Ninth Group, is the UK’s largest independent flower show and attracts over 55,000 visitors across 4 days.

Nisha Katona MBE will be showcasing her skills this year, on Saturday 17th August.

Nisha Katona MBE is a true trailblazer. Since leaving behind a 20-year career as a barrister in 2014, she has become a highly successful restaurateur, cookbook author and TV chef. She is the CEO, executive chef and development chef of Mowgli Street Food restaurants, which currently has eighteen locations across the UK.

Nisha has a deep love of Indian cooking, and has written five cookbooks on the subject. Equally, she is passionate about business as a force for good. Nisha’s charity, the Mowgli Trust, donates over £500,000 to local and global charities each year.

Nisha is incredibly warm and articulate on camera. Her 20 years as a barrister have given her excellent public speaking skills, with an innate ability to draw in viewers. Irresistible.

Matt Tebbutt

Matt Tebbutt, Chef and TV presenter will be cooking live in this year’s Cookery Theatre on Thursday 15th August.

Matt presents the ever-popular BBC1 food and chat show, ‘Saturday Kitchen’. He is also the presenter of its favourite moments partner – ‘Best Bites’ on BBC2 every Sunday.

Matt also co-hosts ‘Food Unwrapped’ on Channel 4. Matt, along with Jimmy Doherty and Andi Oliver, front this food and science series that lifts the lid on what’s really in the food we eat.

Matt co-presented Market Kitchen on UKTV for five years with Rachel Allen, Tom Parker-Bowles and Matthew Fort.

Matt believes in using only the freshest, seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients. He trained under Marco Pierre-White, Alastair Little, Bruce Poole and Sally Clarke.  For fourteen years, Matt and his wife Lisa ran The Fox-hunter restaurant in Monmouthshire (Restaurant of the Year for Wales 2004). This was  where the daily-changing menu featured an exciting range of wild and foraged foods. His most recent project is a small cookery school and filming kitchen in Wales.

He has written four cookbooks, ‘Matt Tebbutt Cooks Country’, ‘Guilty Pleasures’ and his current offering ‘Weekend’. ‘Matt Tebbutt’s Pub Food’ will be available from August.

Visitors to this year’s show can enjoy inspirational show gardens, spectacular floral displays and  gardening advice. All this and a pop-up shopping village with everything you need for the home and garden, cookery demonstrations, live music and entertainment.

Special guests confirmed to date for the Garden Theatre are: Carole Baxter and George Anderson of Beechgrove Garden and Adam Frost of BBC Gardeners’ World. There will also be: David Domoney of Love Your Garden, Skinny Jean Gardener of BBC’s and CBBC’s Blue Peter and CBeebeies star Justin Fletcher.

The Cookery Theatre is sponsored by Lancashire Tea and Nationwide Produce. Celebrity chefs Phil Vickery of This Morning and Platinum Pudding winner Jemma Melvin have been confirmed to date. More will be announced over the next few months.

Southport Flower Show is a registered charity. Profits from the annual show and other park bookings are used to pay for the maintenance of Victoria Park as well as reinvesting in future flower shows.
