THE INTERIORS EXPERTS AT MADE TO MEASURE WINDOW BLINDS BRAND STYLE STUDIO, HAVE TAKEN SEVEN LOOKS STRAIGHT FROM THE CATWALK AND DEMONSTRATED HOW THEY CAN BE TRANSLATED INTO HOMES.

Trends will often transcend industries and it’s frequently found that the fashion we wear cascades into our homes.  Keeping an eye on what’s happening in the world of fashion can also be a great source of inspiration when looking to update or refresh décor.” says Style Studio’s Lorna McAleer, who has selected her top looks from the catwalk and shown how to style them for 2017.

Nicoll Blue

A dreamy pastel blue with a touching backstory breezed onto the catwalks at London Fashion Week. Nicoll Blue is Pantone’s tribute to designer Richard Nicoll, who died last year, and is said to be a reflection of his extraordinary eyes, as well as colours that permeated his collections.

This stunning blue is reminiscent of summer skies and hazy days so it works particularly well to update windows at this time of year. Vertical blinds in this shade will act like a continuation of the sky and provide a fresh summery look.”  Lorna McAleer – Style Studio.

Microflorals

Floral fashion always takes centre stage in spring/summer and this year it’s all about microscopic buds and blooms.  Lorna’s advice to achieve this look in homes is, “Be a shrinking violet and opt for tiny, petal patterns for an on-trend look.

“Bask in this pretty, seasonal look with our Mimosa window blind in a warm yellow that evokes the feel of a fresh, spring meadow.  Or, similar to wearing a leather biker jacket with a floaty floral dress, the introduction of dark colours and materials such as exposed brickwork and plastic/Perspex will give the scheme a tougher, high fashion edge.”

Flower Power

At the other end of the scale, loud and proud animated florals will cater for those who prefer their interiors to pack a little more punch.  “Window blinds with a bright cartoon sketched quality make a real statement piece for windows.” – Lorna McAleer, Style Studio

Khaki

Green is a hot look for homes this year with Pantone’s colour of the year ‘Greenery’ transforming homes into tranquil sanctuaries.  Create a calming scheme with shades of soothing khaki and cream or a tropical indoor garden with botanical prints and hessian.

Clashing Patterns

Sunshine Yellow

Emilia Wickstead, J W Anderson and Paul Smith all demonstrated a fondness for this most optimistic of colours and this happy hue is a welcome update for homes in spring/summer.

Monochrome

Marques Almeida showcased bold monochromatic styling in grid patterns and oversized dotty fabrics at London Fashion week. Keep the look up to date in homes by introducing texture and pattern on black and white curtains and Roman blinds or roller blinds. Geometrics, typography and even tropical designs work particularly well for this look and if you’re feeling brave add a hit of intense colour on one or two accessories within the room.
