Lucky us at His & Hers, we got to spend an evening at the new venue in Liverpool and I cannot begin to express how much fun it was.

Flight Club, Liverpool is a vast, elegant, stylish space. This enables groups and couples to eat, drink and play darts in multiple numbers without invading anyone else’s space. There is ‘track’ lighting which sweeps and curves for the length of the building. Plush leather upholstery speaks of comfort and great style.

The atmosphere is warm and friendly. We were rookie darts players, so we were led through the process and opted for a beginner’s game. We came up a winding staircase to our own niche space.

The Manager came to meet and greet and was genuinely charming, engaging and fun. This set the mood for the whole evening. We were reviewing the Christmas food packages. The Elf menu with  food and drinks comes at £47.50 per person.  The Santa menu, which is sumptuous comes in at  £67.50, with beer, or Prosecco or wine in the mix. We sampled some stunning cocktails. The Margarita was simply the best: salty and simmering. There are group packages: starts at two and goes up to ten.

We sampled some of the delicacies on the Santa menu. If I had any notion in my head about the venue, I might have thought that it would be comfort food: pizza and burgers. Indeed pizza is on the menu, yet there is so much more. This is fine cuisine. We started with tomato and avocado bruschetta (crunchy with creamy deliciousness). The crispy baked Brie with cranberries was a melt in the mouth moment: a slightly acidic complement to the strong, smooth taste of the Brie. My own favourite was the prawn cocktail on lettuce: the ‘Marie Rose’ sauce was ever so slightly hot and worked so well with the taste and bite of the prawns. Pigs in blanket (an Xmas favourite) came with a honey mustard sauce. It is all in the details. Then there are Porcini mushrooms Arancini. There are beef barbacoa sliders on the menu, alongside meat and veggie pizzas. There is a separate gluten free menu, which was impressive.

There is always room for dessert. It had to be mince pies: which had dense, satisfying flavour. The macaroons dissolved in a really pleasing way.

We stayed firm on opting for a beginner’s game of darts. Turned out we were naturals. Beginners’ luck perhaps. I even scored a bulls’ eye. Cannot begin to tell how much fun it all was. It was a Monday evening and an unexpected treat. Social darts is the way forward. It is relaxing, sociable and at the very least will make you smile, if not laugh out loud.

We plan on a return match. Just to be sociable you understand.
