THE ICONIC OLD BLIND SCHOOL HAS BEEN GIVEN NEW LIFE AND RESTORED INTO A STUNNING RESTAURANT, AND HIS & HERS MAGAZINE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE AMONG THE FIRST GUESTS TO DINE HERE AT THEIR PRIVATE DINING EVENING.

Paul Newman and David Mooney, the successful entrepreneurs behind New Moon Company, already have six successful restaurants and pubs across the North West.

The duo hosted the most incredible evening, and upon arrival we were given a tour of the building. The interior is simply breath taking. Your eye first travels up the huge, original feature staircase, restored and painted in golden yellow, with glowing lights falling down the centre from the high rooftop window. With more accents of yellow, a wood burning stove and flickering candlelight, a cosy atmosphere was set in our dining room.

With laughter and live music filling the air, we enjoyed a cocktail at the equally as stunning bar before being seated. We indulged in tasters from the menu including duck, black pudding, lamb and beer battered fish. Finally, we were served heavenly desserts of mini apple pies, brownies and strawberry cheesecake, which caused gasps along the table as they were brought towards us. Classic dishes are carefully reworked and made with delicious, premium ingredients.

There’s certainly a lot to enjoy at The Old Blind School, which is now open. We suspect the restaurant will be extremely popular, and we can’t wait to return here very soon to see the building filled with life.
