ultimate mornings

How do you start your mornings? Do they consist of a circuit at 5.30am? Meditation at 6am? And a dip in Crosby Beach at 6.30am?

Have you ticked off a High Intensity workout, meditation and mindfulness and a spot of cold exposure all before 6.45am?

Former MMA fighter Mark Scanlon, and meditation coach Martin Bone who’s been dubbed Liverpool’s ‘Scouse Guru’ have teamed up to offer a completely FREE combination of classes every Thursday morning on Crosby Beach.

Mark is also the co-founder of Liverpool’s new self-development centre, Awake. Based in Old Swan, Awake is offering a range of classes from High Frequency, Hot Yoga, Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation, for both adults and children, with all children’s classes completely free to encourage mindfulness and gratitude whilst also supporting children with their mental health to help to avoid future anxiety, stress and depression.

Awake, based in Prescot Road Business Park, will be open to the public from Monday 10th August. In the build-up to opening the studio, the team behind Awake has hosted free Digital Detox days out for families and friends to disconnect from distractions such as mobile phones and other devices, and reconnect with each other and nature. The next free Digital Detox day out is on Sunday 20th September.

Martin, who has been practising meditation and yoga for over eight years, started the Thursday morning class with meditation and a dip in the sea. Mark then came on board to add in the circuit training and when the Ultimate Mornings began around four weeks ago, 60 people turned out, but around 500 people now gather (social distancing measures adhered to) every Thursday morning to, as Mark is renowned for saying, ‘Win Your Morning, Win Your Day’.

People of all ages join together; from young children to those who are grandparents, and every age in between!

Believers in positivity, commitment, discipline and ultimately, helping people, both Mark and Martin set about starting the Thursday morning class to bring together like-minded people and champion self-development and becoming a better version of you.

Mark and Martin have been joined by Mark from On a Mission MC who has been visiting postcodes in Liverpool and hosting litter pick parties, gathering local children and encouraging them to clean up the city’s streets. He also brings the music to Crosby Beach, ensuring the atmosphere is fun for all those who take part in Ultimate Mornings.

Mark Scanlon, who takes the 5.30am circuit class on Crosby Beach, said: “I’m a true believer that your mornings set the tone for the rest of the day. I’m up early each morning to train and meditate before most people have got out of bed but it means I have the rest of the day to work and be there for my family.

“The Ultimate Mornings are something anyone and everyone can come along to, just like our classes at Awake. We’re channeling mental wellbeing and becoming the best version of yourself. It’s complete free of charge and it’s a great way for you and your children to start the day. Just bring yourself and a smile!”

Martin Bone, mediation coach and founder of the Scouse Guru app, added: “The Ultimate Mornings tick every box; circuit training to raise your heart rate, followed by calming meditation and finished with some cold exposure with a dip in the sea. By 6.45am, we can guarantee that you’ll be feeling more energised, positive and grateful, ready for the day ahead. Please join us, this Thursday and every Thursday following that at 5.30am by the carpark at Crosby Beach.”
