IS THIS THE CITY’S BEST NEW MENU…? AWARD-WINNING DUKE STREET RESTAURANT IL FORNO HAS LAUNCHED A BRAND NEW MENU DEDICATED TO ITS SPECIALTY – FRESH SEAFOOD.
The seasonal fish menu offers diners a selection of fresh, seasonal seafood items hand-picked by head chef Paolo Cillo.
Starters (starting at around £6) range from fresh Colchester rock oysters and Scottish mussels to tiger prawns pan-fried in garlic, chillies, tomato and extra virgin olive oil.
Mains start at just £10.95 and include seafood salads, Il Forno’s famous clam linguine and even an Italian take on UK comfort food, the fish pie – made using a seasonal catch.
The menu’s true standout though is the fresh whole fish, filleted at guests’ tables. Try the sea bream baked in salt, grilled sea bass or dover sole, all served with seasonal vegetables.
Otherwise opt for the extra indulgent Scottish lobster served with fresh pasta, white wine, garlic and cherry tomatoes (£24.95).
Il Forno’s head chef Paolo Cillo said: “Fish is an integral part of Italian cuisine, especially in the south where many of our talented chefs and I myself are from. In Italy, it is quite common to feast on several courses of the freshest fish in one sitting – perhaps mussels and prawns to begin, a fresh seafood pasta to follow, and plenty of delicious white wine and homemade bread to complement the dishes.
“Our new menu allows you to dine just as you would in Italy, with small and larger plates, as well as some British-gone-Italian comforts such as seasonal fish pie. We look forward to serving our guests more and more seafood as the weather warms up.”
All seafood is delivered fresh from local, British suppliers, ensuring some of the best Liverpool has to offer. All that seafood can be washed down with a glass of premium wine selected from one of the largest vino lists in town.
Il Forno’s new seafood menu is currently available on Fridays – or Fish Friday, as the restaurant has dubbed them – until late.
