Brighter Smile? Here’s How to Get It

Comments (0) Beauty

Who wouldn’t love to have a great, white, dazzling smile at all times? While your genetics may have a say in what your teeth look like, your habits will certainly determine their health, at the end of the day, as well as the bill you pay at your dentist’s office each year.

Whitening products have become so much better over the last couple of years, though, and dental products, in general, have never been better. There are no good reasons not to take proper care of your teeth and make sure that they’re always as healthy as possible.

Here is a handful of ways to make it happen so that you can wake up with a slightly brighter smile every morning.

First: Handling the brushing routine

As a bare minimum, we all need to ensure that we’re brushing our teeth twice a day, but tooth brushing is still something a lot of us do incorrectly. While you may brush for the right amount of time, and even right after a meal, could you be using the wrong techniques while cleaning, such as only focusing on the top of your teeth and neglecting all the corners and angles?

Keep the brush head at a 45-degree angle; that way, you’re removing the plaque and bacteria that’s close to the gum line. Don’t brush too hard as you might start bleeding, and finish it all off by giving your tongue and the roof of your mouth a quick scrub.

Make sure you do this at least twice a day, and you should be able to smile a bit more brightly.

Next: Floss every day

You probably know very well that brushing your teeth is vital to keep their surfaces clean – but brushing is really not enough for cleaning in between each tooth. That’s why you need that floss and why you should be flossing at least once a day.

Even if you are doing your best to floss in the evenings, you might not be doing it correctly, though. Spend some time on it and wrap the floss around each tooth as you work your way throughout the mouth.

Pay extra attention to your molars at the back of your mouth, by the way, as the space might be rather tight and more difficult to clean; why not have a look at this article for a step-by-step guide to flossing like a pro.

Visiting your dentist

About half an hour after you’ve been eating lunch, it’s also a good idea to rinse with a good mouthwash, in order to keep your mouth healthy throughout the day. Remember to drink water during the night as well to avoid drying out your mouth too much as you sleep and, finally, pay attention to those visits at your dentist’s office.
