Albert's Schloss brunch

If you happened upon the Albert’s Schloss website for its Liverpool Cook Haus, first and foremost, it reads like a fairy story proclamation: ‘Liverpool ist wunderbar’. It is a lovely thought. Obviously true!

The location is inspired, particularly for us folk who live in the Wirral. We step off the train and walk out of the Bold Street exit at Central Station. And there before us is the welcoming sight of promised fun and fine food.

Albert’s Schloss, with its snow white Alpine origins; a scene scattered with spruce and pine Christmas trees, knows how to do Christmas. We so enjoy the atmosphere, the warm glow of Xmas cheer and boisterous decorations in a wide open space, that somehow is always bustling with people enjoying themselves. There is fun entertainment, and the play list fitted the festive mood.

The bar takes centre stage with its splendid proportions and dazzle of glasses, wines, spirits, cocktails and beers. We were welcomed in, a bit like being invited in to a Christmas party. Then cosily seated by the window, behind the bar. There are always plush cushions to make you feel comfortable.

His & Hers had an invite to sample the impressive brunch menu. Our much esteemed editor chose the Kroissant Royale with smoked back bacon and Burford Brown fried eggs. I opted for Pancake Haus, with options: either Maple bacon with Burford Brown eggs or a berries and cream version. There is freshly squeezed juice on the menu and the coffee and tea are just great.

There are smoked salmon and yoghurt with poached egg options in what is a wide ranging menu. Brunch is available 9am until 1pm: Monday to Thursday and 9am until 2pm Friday to Sunday.

We now have a tradition of using the photo-booth down in the basement. It always makes us giggle and is definitely a fun way to finish the visit.

It is never if we will return to enjoy the delights of Albert’s Schloss, it is when. The sooner the better really. It could well be addictive.
