Best Children's Dance Schools

LIVERPOOL HAS AN ENVIABLE REPUTATION WHEN IT COMES TO NURTURING THE SINGING AND DANCING STARS OF THE FUTURE, BUT THEN YOU’D EXPECT NOTHING LESS FROM THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE BEATLES!

But with so many dance schools on our doorstep, finding the best one for your children can be a challenge. That’s why the His & Hers team has been a on a mission this month to create this guide to a few of our favourites…

So, your child’s been rehearsing their favourite routines in the living room for months, and you’ve kitted them out with some stylish children’s dance shoes, or maybe even a whole new wardrobe for their dream life in the spotlight. There’s just one problem. To turn that raw talent and enthusiasm into something more, they’ll need to find a great dance school. Thankfully, there are plenty to choose from on your doorstep. Here are just a few of our top picks.

Liverpool Theatre School

For over 16s, Liverpool Theatre School is the perfect place to hone their dancing, singing and acting skills. Established in 1939, it’s one of only three schools in the North of England to offer a Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre validated by Trinity College London and to be funded by the Dance and Drama Awards Scheme. Students benefit from ‘real world’ experience with regular public performances and a West End theatre showcase at a London theatre, attended by industry influencers and agents.

Rare Dance Studio

With teachers including the talented Darren Suarez, as the name implies, Rare attracts students with a rare level of ability as dancers. Like Liverpool Theatre School, the team at Rare is known for preparing students to make a career of their talents with a Junior Elite Programme (for ages 9-12) and an Elite Programme (for ages 11-18). However, they also cater for youngsters with their ‘Bambino’ classes, which are open to children between the ages of three and eight. ‘Bambino’ classes cover: Ballet, lyrical, street and musical theatre and cost £5 per class.
