THERE ARE FEW BETTER PLACES TO WATCH A BIT OF SPORT THAN LIVERPOOL – A CITY FAMOUS FOR ITS GREAT FOOTBALL TEAMS AND FANTASTICALLY FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE.
The city centre is absolutely littered with brilliant bars and many of these are a great place to watch a bit of the footy, rugby, or whatever else takes your fancy!
What can be a real pain, though, is walking into a pub only to find out that there isn’t even a TV! Luckily, we’re going to provide you with a list of the best quality sports bars Liverpool can offer.
Camp and Furnace
Located in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, Camp and Furnace certainly keep themselves busy with the number of brilliant events that they host. Like the idea of watching the match of a giant TV in a hall filled with people? Of course you do! It’s all the atmosphere of going the game without having to go beer-less while you watch it.
Bierkeller
If you like your beer Bavarian and are more into your lederhosen than jeans then this is the place for you. The setup is benches and the drinks come in steins, it’s the perfect place for a spot of football – they weren’t kidding when they say the Germans always win!
Sound Food & Drink
Anywhere that does an unlimited pizza and prosecco deal is A-Okay with us! Frequently playing live music and boasting probably the friendliest bar staff in Liverpool (and we KNOW how much of a claim that is) you’d be hard pressed to find a better atmosphere in one of the smaller bars in this city.

Rileys
If you’re a fan of every sport you could possibly imagine, then Rileys is the place for you. From American football to the football that everyone else (wrongly) calls soccer there will be something for everyone here. If that isn’t enough, they also have plenty of pool tables, dart boards, foosball tables and pretty much any other game you can think of.
Pogue Mahones
The Irish sure do know how to have a good time, so you’d be hard pressed to find a better time than at Pogue Mahones. Often referred to as Liverpool’s most authentic Irish pub, you should definitely turn up on one match day and treat yourself to a Guinness or five!

McCooleys
Another Irish gem in Liverpool city centre’s crown, though it’s decidedly bigger than the previous place. McCooleys is truly huge, there’s a television in pretty much every corner and when it’s matchday the place is packed to the rafters! The Irish themed pub grub certainly isn’t anything to sniff at either!
Hope and Anchor
Formerly Scream, the Hope and Anchor is the haunt of many of Liverpool’s students and it’s not hard to see why. Reasonable prices, delicious food, many different craft ales, a swanky collection of pool tables and always showing the football whenever it’s on – beats a dingy student pub any day of the week!
There we have it, some of the best bars in Liverpool to watch the match at – although since the premier league is over till August you’d probably be more inclined to break out the football equipment and have a game yourself. Just make sure that when the football does come back that you ring ahead before you head to the pub to double check. There’s nothing more annoying than turning up to find out they’re showing yesterday’s reruns of Britain’s Got Talent instead!
