WE WERE DELIGHTED TO BE INVITED TO BE A PART OF THE EXCITEMENT SURROUNDING BLACKBERRY GROVE’S FIRST BIRTHDAY…
New Brighton has enjoyed a renaissance over the past few years: there’s a great theatre, The Floral Pavilion and cinema, The Light, and new innovative independent restaurants are a crucial part of this transformation. Blackberry Grove was celebrating its first birthday, and since it’s up for another national award, there’s much to celebrate. His & Hers was delighted to be invited to be a part of the excitement.
There is a new head chef, with an enviable reputation: the staff are friendly, fun and efficient. The food caters for everyone: meat eaters, vegan, and vegetarian alike – as well as being particularly allergen aware with a gluten free menu.
Fire performer Rachel Lloyd was the first act, and she set the tone for the evening: elegant , entertaining and mesmerising. Marc Kenny followed: he’s a guitarist with an impressive voice: his set spans over forty years of music: he obviously loves what he does, and that makes all the difference. The final act was the Mersey Belles, both quirky and very talented indeed: and yet in the end the food stole the show.
The staff worked tirelessly, yet took the time to get feedback and make sure everyone was taken care of. My favourite dish of the night was the fish and chips: the fish had real attitude, crisp and succulent, and the chips had that home-cooked wow factor. Who knew potatoes could taste that good! The beef burgers were a real treat: something of real substance to sink your teeth into: the bean burgers were delicious, spicy with a combination of intriguing flavours. There is a real family vibe and the Blackberry Grove team really believe in what they are doing. The future is looking very good indeed.
