The fabulous three AA Rosette Lawns Restaurant at Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa is set in picturesque grounds in the heart of the Wirral and Cheshire countryside, The Lawns serves its “Great Wirral Afternoon Tea” daily. Guests can choose from an impressive menu of loose leaf teas that will delight even the most discerning tea connoisseur ranging from the classic ‘English Breakfast’ to ‘Mandarin Rose Petal’ and ‘Chocolate Orange Truffle’.

Tea is severed with a sumptuous selection of seasonal finger sandwiches such as ‘Beef and Onion’, ‘Prawn and Avocado’ and ‘Cheese and Chutney’ followed by mouth-watering cakes including ‘Eton Mess’, ‘Beetroot and Mint Chocolate Muffins’ and ‘Chocolate Eclairs’. To finish, plain and fruit scones are served with clotted cream and a delicious choice of local jams including ‘Apricot and Amaretto Jam’, ‘Damson and Wirral Gin Jam’ ‘Chocolate Curd’.

Those who prefer afternoon tea with a twist can opt for ‘The Great Wirral Savoury Afternoon Tea’. The savoury menu includes the same impressive selection of teas as the traditional version served with delicious finger sandwiches such as ‘Coastal Cheddar with Beer Chutney’, ‘Roast Beef and Horseradish’ and ‘Turkey, Sage and Onion’.

Instead of cakes, guests opting for the savoury menu are served snacks such as ‘Pork and Pistachio Sausage Roll – Kimchi’, ‘Fish and Chips’, ‘Black Pudding Scotch Egg’ and ‘Chilli Beef – Tortilla Chips’. To finish, ‘Cheese and Bacon Scones’ are served with ‘Treacle Tart’.

Geoff Dale, General Manager at Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa, said: “Our afternoon teas are immensely popular with discerning tea lovers, whether they have a sweet tooth or a more savoury palate.”

Afternoon teas at The Lawns Restaurant can also be enjoyed with a cocktail or a glass of Prosecco or Champagne.
