At His & Hers we love to meander around the Dock: so many great restaurants, wonderful art at Tate Liverpool and fascinating things to see at the World Museum. World Vegetarian Day was the given opportunity to celebrate all things vegetarian. It seemed only fair to extend the day to incorporate the first weeks of October. Sunshine, showers, rainbows and cooler temperatures make it the perfect time to go for leafy autumn comfort food.
Maray
Disco Cauliflower is Maray’s signature dish and it takes pride of place in the menu’s veggie section. This small plate is made with chermoula, harissa, tahini and yoghurt before being topped with pomegranate, almonds and parsley for the perfect finish.
Titanic Hotel Liverpool
The Titanic Hotel has a theatre-style restaurant; Stanley’s Bar and Grill. Diners can enjoy a selection of dishes from the dedicated plant-based section on its a la carte menu. For those after something lighter, choose mixed olives chickpea hummus and charred flatbread.
Gusto
To visit Gusto is to enjoy a taste of Italy, especially with its Truffle Bianco sourdough pizza. This Naples-inspired dish swaps tomatoes for a truffle-infused white base before topping with Portobello mushrooms, Fior Di Latte mozzarella, rocket and Gran Moravia cheese.
Rosa’s Thai Café
This is the place where you can find the fresh and zesty flavours of south-east Asia. This restaurant serves up an authentic taste of Thai. Some of us are not ready to let go of summer just yet, and fresh summer rolls are still on the menu. They are made with soft sheets of rice paper stuffed with mixed veg and tamarind sauce, served with a traditional chilli sauce.
The Smuggler’s Cove
The arrival of autumn brings with it the arrival of roast dinner season and The Smugglers Cove is offering a delicious meat-free alternative for Sunday lunch. Served in a creamy cashew and Porcini sauce, enjoy its Celeriac, Mushroom and Pearl Barley Wellington. The accompaniments are maple glazed carrots, roast potatoes, greens drizzled in rich gravy.
Madre
Madre has veggie dishes in abundance, from tacos to ‘Antojitos’ meaning snacks. Start with its large helping of Cadillac Nachos, smothered in garlic crema, salsa, tangy cheese sauce, jalapenos, guac and spring onions.
