WHEN YOU THINK OF LIVERPOOL ONE’S AROUND THE WORLD BAR & RESTAURANT AT THE BIERKELLER ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX, YOUR FIRST THOUGHT IS PROBABLY OF THEIR EXTENSIVE (AND VERY REASONABLY PRICED) DRINKS MENU. HOWEVER, WHEN HIS & HERS PAID A VISIT TO THIS POPULAR VENUE HOPING FOR A LITTLE INDULGENCE AFTER A LONG PERIOD SPENT TUCKING INTO SAINTLY SALADS, IT CERTAINLY DELIVERED.

We know Bierkeller is renowned for offering a whole host of beers from around the world within the bar complex, but after a long day’s work, a refreshingly icy mojito with a clever twist of lime, seemed like the perfect drink to unwind with.

A starter of loaded nachos soon arrived at the table, and the friendly and efficient service and the live music (not to mention the happiness induced by the timely arrival of carbs) helped His & Hers to forget all about editorial deadlines and salads for a few hours!

The nachos were delicious and were demolished far faster than expected given the generous portions. For mains, we opted for a classic stone-baked pizza and the perennially popular steak and chips. Conversation briefly stopped as we focused on feasting. Both dishes were tasty, satisfying and attractively, yet simply, presented (you won’t find any unnecessary hipster flourishes, such as serving everything on roof tiles, at Around The World!) However, food is still served with a flourish. Hanging kebabs make quite an impression and despite Bierkeller’s modest prices, we were really impressed by the perfect presentation of our cocktails, which looked almost as good as they tasted.

We enjoyed the starters and mains a little too much to make room for dessert, but would definitely return to explore the food (and cocktail!) menu further.
