WHEN YOU HEAR THE WORDS FASHION DISASTERS, THE FIRST THING THAT SPRINGS TO MIND IS PROBABLY A FEW OUTFITS THAT YOU THOUGHT LOOKED GREAT AT THE TIME, BUT WHICH YOU LOOK BACK ON AND CRINGE.

However, now that making impulse buys online is so easy that it’s almost harder not to buy stuff (we’re looking at you, Instagram, with your clickable links!) we have a whole new set of worries.

Why, for example, do so many dresses that look Oscars red carpet worthy on the website look more fancy dress shop than fancy by the time they arrive through the post?

Frankly, the convenience of online shopping is giving us a whole new kind of fashion disaster: why is your parcel showing as having been signed for while you’re still eagerly awaiting its arrival and how have you ended up signed up to a monthly fashion subscription service when you thought you were just buying one keenly priced outfit?

If you’re currently paying for your own fashion disasters, it could be time to sit down, take stock and get yourself a refund. Yes, we know it’s a pain and there are always more interesting things to be doing with your weekends, but your perseverance is likely to pay off (quite literally) leaving you with more money to spend on clothes!

If you’ve already tried to get in touch with the retailer you’ve ordered from and you’re struggling to track down the right contact, you can use a website like Head Office Finder to get yourself those hard-to-reach head office ‘phone numbers and start getting some results!

Once you’ve received your refund, you can savour the sense of satisfaction that inevitably follows this kind of top level adulting and promptly re-invest the money into some kind of a treat for yourself (because you’ve earned it!)

Here’s to turning those modern day fashion disasters into fashion triumphs and getting the wardrobe you deserve – one that looks every bit as good as it did in the pictures!

If you’ve been dealing with your own fashion disasters this summer, we’d love to hear about them! Please share your pain in the comments section, or share your pics via social media.
