A FREQUENT QUESTION AT PAST 60 HOPE STREET GIN TASTINGS IS HOW DO YOU CREATE A GIN IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Gary Manning co-owner of the 60 Hope Street group decided to ask John O Dowd, founder of Liverpool Gin the question and after a conversation over some gin (of course), the pair formulated the idea of Gin blending event.
“In my experience a good time frame is twelve months so that you can develop the gin you really want…you develop that is another story and we are keeping this the under wraps until the evening event on Friday, April 29,” said John.
He added: “It’ll be a way of letting gin lovers experience some of the process that professional distillers utilise as they work towards the finished liquid.”
John has distilled the eight botanicals he uses in Liverpool Gin separately so that everyone can then blend them together and create their own Liverpool Gin.
“Who knows, someone in the room may match the original,” he laughed.
Gary said: “We love doing innovative events, and this seemed a great opportunity to do another. We’ve got loads more events with an equally innovative twist up our sleeve lined up for later this year too!
