THIS WEEK, OUR FRIENDS AT BONDMEDIA AGENCY AND KINGDOM TOLD US HOW WITNESSING LIVERPOOL’S INCREASINGLY VISIBLE ISSUE OF HOMELESSNESS HAD SPURRED THEM ON TO TAKE PART IN THE BIG SLEEP OUT.
They joined 300 other fundraisers for the Big Sleep Out which took place in the grounds of St James Church on Parliament Street on Friday 13th October.
They also have a huge live event planned for Kingdom Liverpool on Saturday 28th October, featuring legendary American house music singer Crystal Waters. Her performance at Kingdom Liverpool will be her first gig in the city for over 10 years and will be for one night only.
Crystal’s set list will include ‘Gypsy Woman’ (which has had 15 million views on YouTube), an iconic house track about a homeless woman in the US and ‘Destination Unknown’ (which has had 40 million plus views on YouTube). Other classic club tracks that have been sampled and remixed on countless occasions such as “100% Pure Love” will also be performed.
The team over at Kingdom now aim to take inspiration from Crystal’s most memorable track (a song about a homeless woman she would see daily outside an office block in Washington D.C) to raise as much money and awareness as possible for the Whitechapel charity in Liverpool. All bar one booth is now sold out and there are only a handful of tickets left with what looks to be a packed house contributing to the Whitechapel cause.
Charlotte Hopkins, Events & Community Fundraiser, said: “We are delighted that Kingdom Nightclub is supporting The Whitechapel Centre. Crystal Waters’ hit ‘Gypsy Woman’ describes how homeless can happen to anyone and it really can. Last year we helped 2,814 people in Merseyside end or prevent their homelessness and this number is increasing. Kingdom Nightclub’s support will raise vital funds to help us continue the work that we do for the homeless in Liverpool.”
Emma Bruffell from Kingdom commented. “We are proud to announce Prospect Capital, the Liverpool based City Living, Urban Regeneration, Hotel Development & Investment Company as a sponsor as well as Verum Victum Healthcare, specialises in developing supported housing provision.”
Craig Blackwell, MD of Prospect Capital, based on Water Street in Liverpool said “The plight of homeless people is something that can be witnessed on the streets in just about every city in the UK. Whilst it is not a new problem, it is one that I feel has grown over the past 2-3 years in big cities like Liverpool. There is not one reason why someone ends up homeless there are a thousand and if we at Prospect Capital, The Residence Water St and Colonial Chambers can work alongside Kingdom Liverpool to raise much needed funds for the Whitechapel Centre we will do all we can to make this event as big a success as possible. I have been involved in working with homeless charities for the last three to four years and am now delighted to be giving assistance and help to the Whitechapel Centre.”
