El Gato Negro launches with ‘Tapas on the Terrace’ spring event

El Gato Negro’s Tapas on the Terrace, which Launching on April 12, 2021, will see diners invited to enjoy a selection of the restaurant’s most popular dishes. These can be shared al fresco with family and friends.  

The announcement comes after the restaurant was inundated with enquiries about its plans for reopening. Diners are keen to reserve their place for a taste of El Gato Negro’s award-winning small plates.

The event will be hosted on the restaurant’s impressive terrace, with additional seating on Exchange Flags accommodating up to 80 guests.

The event will run seven days a week, for five weeks, up until the restaurant’s official reopening on May 17, government restrictions permitting.  Online reservations are available for dining, with walk-ins available for those looking for a drink. 

Tapas on the Terrace Times

Monday to Thursday, 12pm -9pm

Friday to Saturday, 12pm – 10pm (drinks until late)

Sunday, 12pm – 8pm

Reservations are subject to government guidelines, with a maximum party size of six and two households. 

Chef Patron & Creative Director at El Gato Negro, Simon Shaw, mentioned people’s support for the restaurant. “I’ve been blown away by the number of calls and emails we’ve received… wishing us well as we countdown to reopening.

“We can’t wait to get back…to be reunited as a team and with our guests, many of whom have become great friends over the years.  Our spring event Tapas on the Terrace provides the perfect opportunity to do so…A small taste of what is to come when we reopen our doors for restaurant dining.  We’re really looking forward to it.”

It sounds like a charcuterie board, with delicious cooked meats will be amongst the small plates. The fish has always been delicious, with a fine range to choose from, and so much to look forward to.

Simon is a highly experienced and respected restaurateur with over 36 years of experience, most notably as Chef Patron and Creative Director of El Gato Negro and formerly Executive Head Chef at Harvey Nichols.

He was Executive Head Chef at Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge store.  During this time Simon visited Catalonia and the Basque Country, and fell in love with the diversity and excitement of modern Spanish cuisine.

Over the last decade Simon has been recognised in countless industry awards, including the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland, 2021. El Gato Negro is one of the country’s most celebrated modern Spanish restaurants.  In September 2018 Simon opened his second restaurant in Manchester, Canto; serving modern casual tapas and drinks in Ancoats.  El Gato Negro launched at Exchange Flags, Liverpool, in August 2019. Gino D’Acampo My Restaurant throws open its doors to al fresco dining.

Diners dreaming of a little taste of Italy in the heart of Liverpool can make that a reality, Gino D’Acampo My Restaurant is reopening its doors for alfresco dining from April 12th.

Reservations for tables on the restaurant’s impressive terrace on Castle St, Liverpool are open now. Guests are invited to secure their tables early and enjoy the countdown to that long-awaited reunion with family and friends.

A new spring menu, brimming with real Italian dishes served with no compromise, promises to whet diners’ appetites. The restaurant’s Prosecco bar, will be serving an extensive selection of Prosecco, Franciacorta, wine, and sparkling wine. In addition there will be iconic Italian cocktails and artisan Italian beers guaranteed to inspire a thirst.

Open all day, every day, guests are invited to dine alfresco from morning through to night, soaking up the spring sunshine during daylight hours and the warmth of the restaurant’s terrace heaters in the evening.  

Guests are invited to book a table for restaurant dining from May 17.  Reservations for alfresco and restaurant dining are restricted to groups of six and families of two households, with drinks permitted whilst seated

Bookings made from June 21st see all limits on social contact lifted, with parties of all sizes welcome, and standing and seated drinks permitted.  All reservations are subject to government guidelines, with guest safety the restaurant’s number one priority.
