A Merseyside charity has teamed up with a Wirral swim school to give local people access to its heated sensory swimming pool.

From its base in Bromborough, Autism Together supports autistic people of all ages, with around 800 staff providing residential, supported living and day services to over 400 autistic adults, and support to many more families across the region.

The charity’s swimming pool provision is an important part of the services it offers to the people it supports.

However, there are times when the pool is not being used by the organisation, so their directors approached Splashed Out to run sessions for local groups and individuals who might benefit from access to the facilities.

Splashed Out is a Wirral swim school for all ages and abilities, with experience of providing a range of swimming sessions for children and adults with additional needs.

Chris Cullen, Autism Together’s Director of Estates & Facilities, said: “We are thrilled to be able to announce this new partnership with Splashed Out who will now manage and run a range of sessions during free periods within our pool.

“With their skills and experience in supplying accessible swimming to all ages and abilities, it was a perfect match for our charity.”

Autism Together’s swimming pool is based at its site in Raby, near Bromborough.

For the safety and privacy of people living on the site, the charity has created a new public access to the pool building, along with dedicated parking bays for members of the public who have booked a swimming session.

Jonathan Gerrard, Director of Splashed Out, said: “This partnership with Autism Together is great news for the local community as it increases the number of sessions we can offer in Wirral.

“Our swim sessions last around 30 minutes and take place in a warm pool with an emphasis on building confidence and skills in the water.

“If any parents or individuals would like to use the sensory swimming facilities at Autism Together’s site in Raby, please get in touch with us or book on via our website.”
